I heard from somewhere it could be another 3 weeks before the EFL approves (or otherwise) the take-over. That is depressing. I know there a situation at Macclesfield, but surely a huge organisation such as the Football League can concentrate on more than one thing at once. They are a bunch of useless jobsworths. (probably the only thing that Roland Duchatelet and I happen to agree on).
probably sky. they mentioned it on there (3 weeks). i saw what sky did with the takeover info... they leaked/mentioned bits every 20 mins or so. bowyer first said the meeting he had was strange. then 20 mins into the game the commentators were saying it takes 3-4 weeks to go through (not sure from when?). then 20 mins later they said that they'd told LB he'd have money to spend. but it was a drip feed of tid bits of info so you didnt switch off. i'm having doubts as to if it will go through now... they said roland is still paying the bills. you'd have thought a purchase like this would have had a "exchange" date, like that of a house, whereby one person pays from a certain date and the interest is added from then.
No particular reason, just a feeling that it's Douchatelet, so I smell a rat. He's not gone until he's gone.
Hope you're wrong FHB. If Duchatelet screws this up and the take-over collapses, we will be relegated. Taylor will be sold, maybe others too. There will be no decent signings in January. Bowyer will leave in the summer (assuming RD doesn't sack him). I'm not willing to believe yet that anything is seriously wrong with the take-over. My hope it it's just some niggling details slowing up the checking process, or just the EFL being useless.
Did you see the after match exchange between Bower and the woman asking the questions about the takeover? Obviously, Bowyer was not going to tell her what was said at the meeting, but he did reveal that whatever was said was not exactly what he had understood from the first time he met the new chairman. Cracks are already appearing in the relationship it seems........
No, I didn't see that after-match exchange. Was it on Sky? I haven't watched any coverage of the Hull game on Sky, or watched anything on the official CAFC website. I fear we might be reading too much into things that may not be 'nothing at all', but are probably trivial and superficial.
@lardiman Bowyer’s comments about his chat with the new owner were either worrying or misunderstood. He said some of what the new owners said was encouraging, and some was strange. I am just hoping the “strange” bit was NOT about Bowyer’s contract, or the January transfer budget.
The only thing I would add though, is that Bowyer himself sometimes seems unaware of the effects his comments may have on some fans. He isn't a politician by nature, and I don't think he picks every single word with conscious care. In the past a few times, he mentioned his good relationship with RD and spoke about him in friendly terms. I think that - to Bowyer - these comments meant nothing important. They were not 'loaded' at all (not meant to convey any additional message), just things that it occured to him to say, on the spur of the moment. His new comments about some things being 'strange' may be no more meaningful than his casual comments about Roland.
Bowyer has since clarified what he meant in the 'New Shopper' article; see 'News Now CAFC'. He now says there is nothing for fans to worry about. Not sure l am totally convinced.....???
