Who's Rory Delap??.............He doesn't play for Saints any more............Doesn't he play for Liverhampton?............Makes a change for Liverhampton to make a mistake a let us have a star...............Shame on them.................

 

Danny was never going to get picked ahead of Mane,Salah and Firminio ....their loss most definitely our gain.
P.S always worth watching this beauty from Rory again.

 

Almost as spectacular as Rory’s goal, is Jason Dodd’s donkey-drop pass to himself before he heads the assist.

 

This sits well with Tom's name and shame theme.

I always remember this game and not just for this fabulous goal. Before the game I was moaning to the guy in front of me about Delap. It was something like " for our record signing what does he do? Just runs around a lot, doesn't help the defense and does nothing in attack".

When he scored that goal, the guy in front turned to me laughing and we both shouted out in unison DELAP!!!!

Looked for my old comments, but strangely found none. I was certainly tentative about his arrival at the time. But also knew if he stayed fit, he'd be useful.
I never expected this hot streak though, where he has not only taken advantage of every mistake the opposition has presented, he's also dragged us up another level with the belief in his performances. It feels like he will score every game, and that feels kinda alien to me in recent years. Very proud to have him here. Not just a great footballer, a truly good person as well.

 

Glad to have been wrong. Hopefully his injury woes are behind him, because we reeeeeeeally need his production.

 

Well, I think Danny will be retiring this week. He made Garth crooks team of the week so there’s nothing much left to play for. The genius even points out that we need to stay up.

 

Garth is great. Only someone with his years of football expertise could identify such a point. Thanks Garth, I’d never have known!!

 

One year ago today since it was made permanent.

I really regret doubting the signing, but tbf that was based more on his I jury record than his ability.

 

Add to that the rut we were in when he first came, its totally understandable.
I had some doubts, but it was Klopps leaving speech that made it feel like a something really good might well be happening. He sounded so reluctant to let him go.
