Is he our first choice striker? I would have thought that is Austin....until Hughes sees evidence to suggest otherwise. I think he gives us an option, so we can rest Charlie and perhaps reduce the chance of him being injured. I see Ings and Austin as our interchangeable tattooed forwards...with Gabbi able to play with either of them. Long provides something different depending on opponents and how the game is going (if he doesn't start). This is where you tell me that Ings is a different type of player....I admit ignorance in this area.
That's the problem, though. We're unwilling to fork over market price for quality first-choice players, but we're quite willing to throw money at rotational options with major red flags.
To be honest Leicester winning that year was our best hope in a generation and probably for a generation more. This one stings a lot.
Not ours, but @AKCJ bet me that Vardy would get less yellows for diving than Dele Alli. I assumed Alli would have learned his lesson, as he's a bright lad. Seems I was wrong on all counts.
Don’t think anyone has said he’ll score bucket loads, more that he could be a decent signing for us. Maybe we wait and see first before saying it’s awful business?
Again, that's the problem. We keep spending on players who could be decent options, and consequently we have a squad of backups that we cannot shift for love or money, while claiming to be too poor to afford real quality.
