Depends where you have it I suppose. It hurts more on softer skin like your bicep. As for being addictive, I think you'd have to be a bit weird to get addicted to it.
Dunno anything about their higher end range. But even their low end range is overpriced for what you get. Take the venerable old iPod for example. Great wee thing, but utterly overpriced for the hardware and very limited OS that's in it. Theiving ****s who slap a hefty price on their kit because they evangalized nerds world wide.
But I dont need any fancy programs and if it stops the kids from downloading ****ty virus' then that's all I need it for. If I can get an apple for £1300 and it lasts 10 years, then it'll work out cheaper than getting a £500 laptop every 3/4years?
They don't last 10 years. You'll have to frequently update your OS and Apple sort of lie when it comes to specs, most of your RAM is unusable, so after a few OS upgrades your laptop will be useless (bout 4 years). They also rip you off to **** If you don't want viruses get Ubuntu and stop using Windows. It'll also confuse the **** out of your kids
Why do you need such an expensive machine? Get an iPad for the kids (circa £300 - £400) and see how they go with it. They won't be able to **** it up in the way they **** up the laptop, that's for sure, but see if it meets the needs they have of it. In the meantime, get the laptop cleaned up and stabalised for you own use and keep the kids locked out of it.
Yep, the Linux route will definately work in that it'll take them years to work out how to do anything with it.
I don't use it, only they do. My daughter has a netbook and she uses the iPad. The laptop is ****ed now.
Toby, you do realise if he goes the Linux route you've opened the door to endless hours of tech support you'll have to give him
I used to use Ubuntu years ago and it came with a platform game a bit like Mario but with a penguin. I'd almost completed it when I moved over to a new system and lost it. <devastated>
My 4 year old smashed the screen of his iPad within 3 months by dropping it on the tiled kitchen floor
