The guy who voted 97 is a hull fan, so presumably the playoff final tickets will go to one of the r's fans on 96/98?

Yes, philhul on 97 will no doubt take the FA Cup Semi-Final tickets.

sheffordqpr and scrappy26 on 96 and QPRNY on 98 will presumably have their own little playoff final for the Championship Wembley Final set of tickets by each attempting to predict the correct score in the Sunderland v West Ham match tomorrow?

Nines of course is the Quizmaster here in making such decisions - certainly a very generous donation of these tickets by IwasanotherwatfordR.

Indeed, thank you for the updates Kilburn. My apologies for not getting on here earlier but I was at work today and have just got in. I will have a quick look through the thread and verify the winner and the runners-up and decide what to do concerning those positions.

Congratulations to philhul who correctly predicted that 97 goals would be scored. He wins two tickets to the FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley. Well done Phil.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The runners-up prize of the Championship Play-Off Final tickets goes to a three way tie. This will be between Scrappy, QPR NY and Shefford who all predicted one goal either side of the ninety seven actually scored.

We will now go to a tie break featuring Monday nights match which is Sunderland v W.Ham ko 8pm.

This will be done on a correct score basis and predictions are to be made on a first come first served basis. So if any of the three runners up see this post they can now post their predictions below. They have until 19:30 GMT on Monday evening to make their prediction. If for whatever reason no prediction is made and the competition hasn't been won they will still be able to predict the scores of any future tie-break matches. This will continue until we have an outright winner. Good luck all.

Generous competition. I might add that my post on the City board was tongue in cheek, I thought it was glaring <laugh>

You lot talk about the playoff final as if you're already in it. We all know how backwards the playoffs can turn out, 4 team lottery, lucky number wins.

Well done the winners. It'll be a bit of an anti-climax if we don't make the Play-off Final now but here's hoping...

I was getting quite excited as I was adding them up and got through the top 2 divisions. I knew L2 had been crap so I stopped, didn't realise L1 wasn't much better. Bloody lower league, when did the strikers get to be as crap as the defenders?

More a case of that's the game the tickets are for I think. Does beg the question as to who has the worst sense of personal loss though:

    1) A fan who is convinced his team is going to get there and then realises they're not going to.
    2) A fan who sees his team qualify for the Final and has tickets but knows he can't go and see them anyway.

Obviously the 2nd one has the benefit of the team still doing well, but on a personal level I think it would be more sickening to know how close you'd been to seeing the game and then not being able to than to have the team miss out. You get used to the team missing out, but personally missing out on the team doing well is much rarer.

I've stickied the thread on our board and renamed it to get his attention for you as well. Would it surprise you to know he's currently leading in our Prediction League as well, a Prediction League that involves predicting games in all 4 divisions. (He was crap this week though, which I'm sure he'll be gutted about <laugh>)

Would it not be better to have total goals as this would be more likely to get a positive result?

Predicting the actual score by three people provides more options rather than say just 3 goals total, 4 options:-

    3-0, 2-1 Sunderland winning
    3-0, 2-1 West Ham winning

Good luck to QPRNY and Scrappy. For the first time this season, I have an interest in the Premiership! Big shout of thanks to our benefactor!

Thank you Ricardo, I have now had contact with Phil. <ok>

That was a consideration NY, but on re-reading the rules laid out in the OP I did state that should a tie occur, the competition would continue on a correct score format. I didn't think it would be right of me to change that at this late stage. Fortunately we have plenty of time to complete the competition should no one predict a correct score in the very near future.

999 is it as Kilbern says ie 3 0 either team or 3 0 team selected winning? (cos that's different)
