Thanks 9s. My third trip to Wembley..1st was to watch olympic footie in 2012 ( only tickets I could.get), today was my third and no prizes for guessing my second trip!
I noticed yesterday morning when I was dropping off at King's Cross that the whole area was packed out with supporters in the blue of Warrington and the hoops of Hull, Every pub along Euston Road was heaving with up to 50-60 outside as well and all chatting and getting along famously. There was no edge and it's clear it's treated as a family day out for the locals. Also noticeable that there were quite a few fans of other clubs in their shirts along for the day as well, so it wasn't the 'tribal' atmosphere you get with football, hence the lack of police. I think the RL have a Wembley weekend when a full set of fixtures, mostly derby matches is played there consecutively over one weekend, there's never been any trouble and it's a great advert for their game which is one of the most competitive top level leagues of any sport. Glad you enjoyed your day RTID...
Absolutely bang on the money. I saw opposition fans clapping trys against their team just because it was a good effort. Fantastic atmosphere and one football should strive to achieve even if takes decades from now to accomplish.
