Don't watch a lot of telly. Certainly not yank stuff.

I'm with you 95% of the time, but there are very notable exceptions. You should know my sensibilities by now.

Denice night again tonight. I wonder if the titties will be out <laugh>

Big memorial darts knockout on Sunday. Shame I can't play the ****ing game anymore <doh>

I watch one show a night with the Mrs. Before bed.

Currently have on rotation: Happy Valley, BCS, Luther, Goldbergs, and just started rewatching Scrubs last night.

I know some of it is good, but it's sorting the wheat from the chaff.
US stuff is slickly made and looks good - but that sometimes obscures gaping holes in the plot and I'm horribly intolerant of shoddy writing.
More than that though, I can't binge-watch anything. Even if it's something I like, after two hour-long episodes that's me done.
I'm not trying to sound pious, but I really don't know how people have the time (never mind the inclination) to watch hour after hour of telly. I can't do passive stuff for long.

What about films?

Not many exceed a couple of hours these days, and anyway they're usually self-contained and the pacing is different.
I'm still not keen on stuff that's badly written, implausible and takes liberties with the audience thinking we'll just lap up any old rubbish.
In ye olden days, when sets and effects were more primitive, a story had to stand up by itself - too often these days they're given the crutches of elaborate visuals and smart dialogue but have little worthwhile content, imo.
It's not that I hate everything - just that I find very little interesting or remarkable that I want to devote much of my life to it.

I tend to watch telly when I've run out of other things to do. Unless it's footy of course, but that's different.

You're only about 10 years out there?!

I loved scrubs so much!! When they then tried to bring in a whole new cast with them as teachers is went badly downhill :(

One of my favourite sitcoms which is why I'm going back and rewatching it.

The new cast was bad... Even before the new cast the last couple of seasons were going downhill.

They ended it at the right time... shouldn't have tried bringing it back with new cast.

I remember the last season on NBC was the last season that was good but it was beginning to feel a little stale. NBC made the right decision to cancel it.

ABC picked it up for the last season with the old cast and then the new cast. It was past its best at that point. Never did well on ABC, they were foolish to buy it.

scrubs was great as they got the original character right.

moving the sarky mad guy to head of medicine did not work at all. the two guys turk and whatever... they were best as residents who made mistakes and goofed about.

The slimy chief of medicine was perfectly done too.

once poepel move on dynamics shift.

Its like big bag theory. its not as good as it was. you've put the comic book shop guy in with the Indian dude more cos you married off howard. the whole howard character has lost it.

penny got old and lost it too. her role was clear and now its pretty much soppy.

Its very hard sustain anything like that over long time. thats why simpsons worked for so long.. prob still does.. nobody ages and you can change voices if really needed
