Don't hate them at all, actually quite like the time of year but don't get the big fuss around fireworks, they're alright but like I say above pretty samey and definitely nothing like as exciting as when you're a kid ... maybe I need to get a box and let some off again. They do get annoying however. Also obviously as a devout catholic I can't help but feeling needlessly persecuted :bandit:

I like a bonfire, but fireworks bore me now.

years ago my border collie would happily sit outside with me watching some go off . Then one year a neighbour was letting off his normal fireworks until suddenly Boom as a new (now normal firework ) was let off . From that day he was scared ****less of all fireworks.
Part of the problem is everyone can ,and does, buy fireworks that years ago would only be seen/heard at public displays - oh & it now goes on for weeks

I honestly don't think it's been that bad this year. Previous years yeah it's outstayed it's welcome in a big way staring days before and going on days after, but this time round there's not been much activity with the bangs, where I am at least, even bonfire night itself seemed to finish pretty early

Same here, much less going on.

yeah i expected the actual weekend to be mayhem but seemed quite restrained compared to recent years.

I remember one fireworks night as a child where we split up into teams of 2, kicked a drainpipe off a random house and played war with one lighting cheap rockets and and putting them in the drainpipe and the other aiming at the opposition. Good times.

I used to take terrible risks with Fireworks, especially bangers and airbombs/airbomb repeaters <laugh>

It was mayhem you're right, when I think back of us playing war with rockets it's crazy.

Back in the day fireworks were relatively small and harmless compared to the incendiary devices that can be bought now, some are little more than mortars, Some of the rockets have several hundred smaller explosives in them, if you played "war" with the modern stuff the average street would look like downtown Mosul within minutes

Deffo. The rockets we played with shot up in the air but didn't even explode. ****ing hurt when they hit you though. <laugh>
