My eldest texted via Whatsapp yesterday. There's a pub in Stockton Heath called the Red Lion where we used to meet for a drink. She drove past the Red Lion in Dubai yesterday. She's now scouring the place for The Cheshire Cheese

I know Dubai is a lot more liberal than other neighbouring countries and allows alcohol, but I didn't realise public drinking was allowed. Surprised they have pubs. That's good.

When I got in yesterday morning, the MD asked to have a personal word with me - a 'good' personal word, I got a pay rise a while back. It seems that, bar the first month after, I hadn't been paid at the new salary. Just short of £2000 after tax and NI straight into my account yesterday. Totally unexpected
