I had a cheapo pool table when I lived alone-until I got married... and all of a sudden no room for the pool table. (even though the pool table played an important part on our first date<whistle>)

I miss my pool table... there again- it was pretty much all that would fit in the flat I had right after Uni. I had my breakfast table in the breakfast area. The pool table in the living room and my bed in the bedroom... that's about all the furniture I had back then... and my bed was just an inflatable mattress! Had two... the cats destroyed the first.

Not quite... after our first date we came back to my place and played pool... and without going into too much details... we were "distracting" each other whilst the other person was taking there shots... My old cheapo pool table probably couldn't have taken the weight of two people on top rolling around.

It was a $200 piece of junk... but straight out of university that's all I could afford.


The pool table wasn't the final destination... the pool table was a stepping stone on the way to a different room. It was during the pool that the date became a date and not just two friends together- as we each tried to one up the other to be more outrageous in our distractions.

At the time, I think the exchange rate was as high as $2 to £1... this was when the dollar was really weak.

So about £100- got it on clearance from an already discount store called "Service Merchandise"... It was definitely a cheapo "I just got out of university and have no money" table... no slate... just wood covered in felt... it did the job though.

Meant I could play pool whenever I wanted without being social!
 
p.S Not going to Warrington any more. Found another car and got £5k knocked off the asking price. Couldn't get the same sort of deal with the one in Warrington. Must be a bunch of tight batards down that way. <ok>
