Common complaints

To be honest Syd, I can see what people are complaining about but everyone should man up a bit. (or women up, I am sure there are some women on here too).

Ignore the wums and engage the mags who are here for genuine conversation and good natured banter. Sticks and stones.

As for those of us who rise to the bate and post abuse back, I say grow up, its not the school play ground and you always end up looking just as bad as them.

Modding these boards is an impossible job, I know I used to moderate a music forum and that was impossible because unlike football where you win and lose music is completely subjective. Lets give the mods a break and stop the abuse from our side, that will show the mags we are above it. The good mags will stay and discuss football with us, the WUMS will disappear and Syd will get more time to walk Oscar and buy him sausage and chips. As for the in fighting, its what the forum is all about, if we all agreed all the time this place would be boring. I disagree with Cest all the time, sometimes I find myself shouting at the screen when I read some of hus posts, but I think he is a top bloke and I would love to meet him for a pint to discuss our beloved SAFC.

he never eats chips

Excellent idea Brucey

you old smoothy you

Vegas, you come across as a really, really nice bloke. I mean that. But I do think that you are naive with respect to the WUMS.

I think that you are applying your own standards to them. The type of people that they are will never "disappear", mate, as it is probably their only mode of social intercourse.

I just hate the idea of forcing mags away from threads, and i just dont think it will work at all, as we will have some Sunderland posters, having a jibe at Newcastle, and then the Newcastle fans cant do sod all about it in those threads.

Also most of the ****e comes from Mags starting threads, so this still wont help any.

The Wums want a bite, its why they wum, just ignore them completely, they will get bored if 20 threads they start end up with 0 replies, or a post gets no bites in an existing thread, the more you tell them to **** off, the more they will wum as they think they are getting under your skin and thats what they want.

Maybe, but I have had plenty of dealings with WUMS mate, they do go away eventually, what they love is attention and if people keep giving it them they will never go away.

Thanks for that mate, I do my best, I try and treat people as I would want to be treated myself. So I suppose you might be right about me being naive.

Stop being so sensible and correct!

But i still don't want them to stop being here....come a few months time we need someone to laugh at.

I agree Steve, BUT this may work as a solution for a few lads who are debating whether to stay on the board, some good posters, many of whom NEVER bait the Mag lads.

We'll see how it goes.

What about this as a solution.

Both sets of lads know i converse open;y with the Mag lads, and i make no apologies for it, and i will continue to do so, HOWEVER, as a moderator for the Sunderland board, the Sunderland fans are my priority, i'm sure the Mags appreciate this.

If a Sunderland lad wants to start a thread, and wants it to remain Mag free, similar to what we do with 'off topic' threads, put 'Mag free' in brackets, Syd, myself, Comm and Dorset will auto delete any Mag comments, we will do this whether they are antagonistic or not.

The Mag lads will be made aware of this, and they will be welcome onto unmarked threads, as per normal.

As i say, i like the banter and i take the ****, cos our time will come and i'll be giving it, but this way, we can have a bit of a 'haven' for us SAFC lads.

Thoughts?

Worth a try for now, why not....

I myself will not use it, being of a less sensitive nature, but maybe some who make the effort to do a thread deserve to have it un-interupted...

So i'm for this at the moment..It's a start at least.

Aye,

You know me Comm, i'm like you, and the craic don't bother me, but i reckon this is a good way for the lads who'd rather not get involved with the Mags to still enjoy the board.

Anyone else think this works, in the short time?

This is a very simple way of keeping a thread Mag free, so give it a go.

What I do have to get off my chest is that this website is designed to cater for football fans of all clubs. It is not a Sunderland only forum and IMO would be pants if it was! Putting "Mag Free" may stop our neigbours posting on a particular thread, but would not deter fans from other clubs from disrupting the thread, if they so wished.

I enjoy conversations on football subjects with any clubs fans, mags included. What I don't enjoy, is reading outright abuse from a minority of our supporters towards mags with valid and interesting points to make. Think back a few months to when we all migrated here and you will remember that the wumming and abuse was far worse than it is now. Some of the mags that were participating in the wumming have calmed down now and post some good stuff, so I can't understand the hostility towards them myself.

I suppose I have thicker skin than most, because it really doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Yep............so very true..

Well thats the mag free bit sorted and well worth a try.

BIBS AND BOBS may well be sorted during October, either way.

So any chance we can stop abusing each other you pack of inbred ****s.

Excellent BB.
I passed my thoughts to Syd recently along very similar lines but I think yours might work better as mine was crushing a peanut with a hammer type system solution.
I see on another thread “MackemRules" got a good thread started - Present player’s! (MAG FREE!) which from the comments looks great.
I'm sure you'll not please everyone but from my angle, well done & thanks again.

Just trying to get the balance mate, and seems to be going ok thus far <ok>

Can't see there actually being that many Mag free threads TBH, but our quieter posters should have the right to discuss SAFC without having to trawl through reams of Mag disruption.
I have said elsewhere the only Mags who will complain are the usual suspects who's only goal in life seems to be to post **** on every thread on our board.
That isn't debate that's disruption.

Suppose anything is worth a try, but will a mag free board appease the complainers, and will the threads dry up and die? who Knows. I am a BOB but I dont rant and rail at the BIBs or fence sitters, my opinion is mine, if shared by others fine, but in no way do I enter endless debates about Bruce out, that thread has been done to death, and yet even yesterday more were posted. the job in hand for the mods is not an easy one, whats needed is more response from our community as Ive said countless times, but if people cant or wont respond, theres nothing that can be done. On the abuse side, everyone has probs said the wrong thing at the wrong time. we have posters who only reply and never post, usually a line or two, but when a Mag adds his imput to a thread, no matter how interesting or factual, these same folk rant and rave and usually abuse those genuine posters, we have just as many problems if not more in our own house. its usually our own folk who spoil decent threads. but again do you start a new thead,,, no mags ,,,no abusers,,,no swearing?

RESULT .........no posters.

TBH Bill, everything you say is right and my reason for posting the thead is I hate things being swept under the carpet, prefer them out in the open. My hope is that everyone will have their say, a moan a bit swearing and abuse but something will sink in and we will move on.

I honestly believe the none mag thing is an idea meant to help but it will die out because I dont think anyone really wants a Sunderland only board and sometimes it takes a sledge hammer to crack a nut.

The abuse seems to have grown of late, we are abuing each other and visitors and that's sad.
