Ouch!!!!! I didn't see that one coming and it just reinforces my low esteem for footballers. What a **** he has turned out to be. It isnt that he has gone elsewhere but the manner of it happening. Word given to one club one day and signature given to another club the following one. That's low in my book. If he didn't want to be here then fair enough and if he doesn't want to be here then I don't want him here. Gone right down in my estimation. I cannot bring myself to wish him well and I'd go so far as to say I hope his career in Scotland crashes and burns.
McHugh's agent Skylet (Sky) Andrew used to be an international table tennis player, UK champion and Commonwealth gold medalist......who coming near the end of his career bumped into Sol Campbell one day and then became the first black football agent. I recognized the name because I used to play Bromley League TT and help to run a club and the league and the name rung a bell..... so I looked him up on Wiki......pity he didn't stay with Table Tennis.
Sorry to see him go but can't blame him for going for the Scottish Premier over League 2. His career and life is at stake. Now if the club had got itself promoted, we might still have had McHugh and Nelson. No mistakes this year I hope.
Let all those players go and forget, ok and sometimes good at their time at Argyle but never consistent. ....time for change will not do any harm.
I actually don't think the Scottish Premiership is a step up on any of the English leagues notdistant. There are a couple of teams that would sit in the Championship in England but not even Celtic would do anything in our premiership in my opinion. Most of the clubs have no money and the wages are rubbish in comparison. Just have a look at attendances. I think Argyle have suffered for the length of contract they are prepared to offer and not the weekly take home. I don't blame McHugh for going elsewhere but I do blame him for the manner it happened.
See Argyle are "in talks" with Posh midfielder Payne according to Barry Fry. When asked Admas replied "I don't know anything about that". He don't like it out in public do he. I wonder if the story is true whether Argyle will pull out because old Barry spilled to the press.
Would you buy a used car from Barry Fry? I bet Derek Adams' face was a picture when he was asked about Payne. Not his style at all.
This Jack Payne is right down the pecking order at Peterborough......spent a time last year out on loan....I'm not too excited about him possibly coming.
You have to trust the manager in player selection plym. He didn't make many mistakes last time he signed a load. Your comment is more ATD than with any fact attached to it. They seem to condemn anyone and everyone every time someone signs before they have even got a kit on. I'd always give a player the benefit of a game before saying he was crap.
Carl McHugh says that he left PAFC for family and football reasons.....Argyle had offered more money than Motherwell.....he had an improved deal from last season but still left.
Probably Caolan Lavery....Canadian born.....there has been a whisper going around about him returning....is that why your asking ?
I've heard that rumour but to be honest I'd be surprised if he did. Think we would have to pay something and that is definately not Argyle's way is it. In the Herald today it said Adams looks for 5 more players. On the beeb site it says 4. In the text of that report Admas says at least 3. I'm not going to read any more reports as the numbers go down everytime. Before long it will say we are laying people off again. I would say we need around 65 more in various positions. Would do with 3 permanent and 2 loanees but I would like us to go without loans at all if possible. Doubt that is a starter though. We have had our season interupted in the last 2 seasons by becoming reliant on a particular loanee and then losing them for a spell in one case and the rest of the season in the other.
I expect two quality loanees would be way beyond our pocket to take on full time.....and of course they would belong to possibly a Championship club loaning them out for experience.
I know we couldn't afford them to make them our's but if we have to loan a player then would like it to be season long with no recall. That would be a good 19 year old from maybe the prem.
Sensible, after a few weeks of rationale posts you seem to be drifting back to the old style of the 'board isn't injecting any cash'. DA's signings have been 'interesting' and if there is a few more to come then all the better. Think I will wait until the first few real matches have been played before passing judgement...9-0 at St blazey is hardly an indication for what lies ahead,
With respect that's a bit bollox lyndhurst. I'm not drifting anywhere I merely said that Argyle don't buy anyone. So who have we bought then? Hardly any club buys a player in league 2. Are we likely to sign 6 more players who we own? Nope don't think so. Are we likely to loan a couple? Yep guess that's par for the course. Now wishing for a couple of really decent ones from a premier club isn't casting any dispersions on the Board ref payment. Parent clubs often pay most or even all of the wages anyway and the further up the food chain the more likely they are to pay. If you want me to make a comment about the Board and Mr B in particular and the way he finances the football side of the club then I will oblige if you like. He's a fecking tightwad who has probably cost us with his tight purse strings over the last 2 seasons. There you go that's not drifting that's a full and frank opinion. and remember you started it.
