Do you seriously want an answer to the last question plym? I am a little disappointed with the Nelson news. Not that he has left as that was always going to be the outcome but where he has ended up. I genuinely thought he could do better than a league one club. Oxford have a history of the top league which is more than we have at least although you wouldn't have them in the top 20 big clubs around. I do think that Nelson has been a great servant of Argyle and given how he broke into the side when it was all doom and gloom and stuck with it you have to give him great credit. He has improved as time has gone on and I can only wish him every success in the future.
Mellor was one of those players that you could love and hate in the same game. When he was doing his Bambi act going forward he could be quite entertaining and effective. That's the like bit. When he was defending it was heart in mouth time and he made so many cock ups in and around the penalty area it was scarey to say the least. That was the hate bit. If only he didn't have to defend he would be brilliant. I always felt it was a bit of a lottery when he was announced as playing but I also wish him wel with his new club. Blackpool have been a basket case for a while now. Whether they have turned a corner reamins to be seen. That just leaves Reid and Harvey to go then. Reid was offered a new contract so if he is washed up because of his injury side then it's his own fault he can't get employed. Harvey I'm not sure where he could go. Have a feeling he might come good one day and we will look at him as another one who we threw away.
I think the same thing about Harvey. Lots of skill but maybe too concerned with showing it off whenever possible. He's a prototype Carey replacement but is he content to spend most of the season on the bench?
Well it's not going to be at Argyle Notdistant that's for sure. I doubt the contract is still on the table now and anyway I think the terms were less than Harvey's ego would accept. I kept hearing good things about young Tyler and kept waiting for it to happen. He was not given a chance much by several managers and as we have said before they can't all be wrong. I would be guessing but think maybe his attitude wasn't where it should be. If he gets his head sorted out then maybe he will be given that chance and prosper. Who knows though. Football is all about gambles isn't it and there are many players who have been thought to be world beaters who have turned out to be rhubarb instead. I always liked Luke Young but he hasn't taken off from Torquay yet has he.
Harvey wouldn't have been offered a contract in the first place unless there was a desire to keep him so if he did come back even at this late stage it could happen. However, spaces are limited and presumably Adams is getting to the final stages of putting his squad together so that won't last for long.
This is just a bit of a guess but, I think Harvey was seen by Adams as a bit of a cheap option who could do a job if pushed. That is very cheap. I think Harvey looked at what was on offer and the limited options he would have and decided no thanks I can do better than that. The offer won't improve and infact could go down given he would have to crawl back with tail between legs. Therefore it won't happen. That's my scenario anyway.
Harvey may well end up at Torquay.. I was with Luke young dad at the races Friday.. he seems to be ok at Torquay .. they are hoping tp go up this season.. so are we?
That's possible Sensible. Must be a bitter pill to swallow to drop out of the Football League though, even if it is the bargain basement end. Torquay isn't far at least.... I see from the Herald he'd rejected the terms. I didn't know that: I thought the offer period had merely lapsed.
You can earn decent money in non league football these days but in most cases it is to suplement the day job and not instead of it. I'd guess Torquay wouldn't be paying the earth to players. I think Harvey could get a league club to take him on as I believe he is good enough. It just wasn't going to be here unless he took the small money.
I dont think he should get big money from Argyle? what has he done.. he may have the talent but as yet to show it.. he has not had the chance in the team, but hard work and fight to get in,, take the chip off his shoulder.
How many times have we seen it before Joe, decent talent but bad attitude. How many have wasted it all. They should learn that you only get one go at life so basically don't feck it up by being stupid.
Look at the England team.. a prime example.. to much wealth at a young age.. I think they may be in for some abuse this season when it kicks off,, some of the player's deserve it.. But they wont care, they still get their 100k plus a week..
As much as people knock Ronaldo the one thing you can't accuse him of is not caring about his national side. He gets well wound up when things don't go right and that's a bloke on at least £300k a week. There are other examples of very very well paid players who are not English who very much care what happens in these competitions. The English simply lack any kind of passion full stop. When you consider it these players are too comfortable too early in life but a bit of pride should still be there regardless.
Although having agreed on Friday to sign this week for PAFC we have been told today that Carl McHugh has signed today for Scottish Premiership team Motherwell......I can only assume that on Friday McHugh only had Argyle interested in him and over the weekend Motherwell showed interest........so an agreement with him and his agent gets thrown out the window because without his signature on the contract it becomes a useless bit of paper. Very disappointed that he has gone against his word and gone elsewhere......a big blow to our plans losing him in such away.....gutted with that outcome.
