I've not really seen any evidence of this, but I haven't been on all afternoon and neither, it would seem, have the other mods.

SA's thread was a bit OTT, but the whole of the British public have been spreading equally sensationalist crap for the last two years and no one bats an eyelid.

Well, since it is the subject of this debate, I'll take the opportunity to tell you that there have been all manner of personalised insults flying about here in this forum, and what happens elsewhere in Britain is no excuse for this place also becoming a dumping ground.

It has been demonstrated elsewhere that a forum need not become a cess-pit of childish mud-slinging. I'd like to see some proper moderation which I believe would have made today's avalanche far less likely, since people would have grown to respect one-another in spite of the differences of opinion. But instead, angry adolescents somehow feel such behaviour is OK here, and that it is acceptable to be disrespectful to their fellow forum members; particularly when it appears to meet with support from those supposedly in charge.

Well I'd be more than happy to have someone take over from me if anyone is willing to do it.

That's a bit harsh. SA's thread was merely a tongue-in-cheek riposte to the equally unfounded witch-hunt which has been levelled at Vettel for the best part of two years, to remove one and not the other would've shown a distinct bias towards the McLaren fan base and potentially alienated half the users of the forum.

It is claer the chummy-chummy attitude of 'well its not 606 but its as good as it gets so lets all get on' has cearly now gone.

But why do people who dish ou so much, seem to be the ones who take most offence when it comes right back at them?

Silver, your rant on Hamilton on another thread this morning was childish. Why are you getting up set that someone has put an equally childish post about Vettel?

If you can;t take it then pleae leave. There were too many primadona's on 606, along with the WUM's, don;t get upset just becuase someone says something you don;t like.

There is the ignore button you can use it they offend you that much.

You think the other forums are any different?

Unfortunately, you seem to have missed my point.

I am not talking about the comments directed at people in the public domain, such as our F1 drivers for example.

I am talking about personalised comments directed at other members of the forum, which are necessarily inflammatory. To make things clearer for you: if I say, for instance, "Arsenal are crap", it is not the same as saying "WestCoastBoogaloo is crap" (for whatever reason), which I hope you will see is a direct, personalised, negative comment.

It is these personalised attacks and defences which are fundamentally destructive to a forum.
