Ok lads and lasses. He is on £232 and needs to be on £250 by the end of the day any body going to help him over the line? Thanks again.
Well he is on his way Leeds this morning with snow falling. First day takes them to Hull and then on the freely to Holland over night. I will date you tomorrow. Thanks again to all who have donated
Ok another 115 km in sleet yesterday. He is feeling knackered but a good nights sleep and on his way again
Another cold day for the lad got him almost across Holland yesterday and they had the pleasure of sleeping indoors last night. Most nights they are sleeping in tents in the sub zero temperatures, which are even colder than here! He is almost at £400 and the group at almost £19,000 raised so far. If anybody would like to put him over £400 that would be great. http://www.justgiving.com/matthew-marshall
Change of plan for the riders now due to the weather. The Students Union have chipped in to pay for hostle accomodation as with night time temperatures due to fall as low as minus 16, they were not (quite correctly) wilingto allow any body to put there lives at risk no matter how good the cause. This means that the route has changed and it might take seven days rather than eight as the stop overs are being booked on a day by day basis. Today it will now be 80 miles from Osnobrucke to Hanover.
Health and safety has kicked in after one of the riders suffered hypothermia the authorites have directed that the rest of the trip be done in the back up coach . The temperatures are predicted to go even lower over the weekend. Matthew is fit and well but a little pissed off as he was going well, however as his dad i am a little relived that no one else will be putting themselves at risk. They will complete the trip but not in the way they wanted to but they will be safe and the charity will still get the cash raised so thanks again for all ofyour support. He has the bug now and he is planning on doing another fund raise ride next year and this time leys hope that we get normal weather!
