Well all my bets went up in smoke... no surprise.

I'm thinking of starting a betting thread of my "picks", so everyone knows what to avoid...

Rooney was the worst player for me. He was useless when he got possession, his first touch cost us chances and he lost the ball more times than anyone else surely?
Parker's forward passing always had too much pace, England in general couldn't kick it 2 yards between each other when there was no pressure on the man. We would have beaten the Germans because they would have died laughing at us.

Not Roy's fault in my opinion, the players at his disposal can't pass and if years of coaching can't do it, he won't be able to force it into him in 3 weeks. We went into it not hopeful, they got our hopes up, so we did better than expected.

Most importantly in my opinion, we now have to get rid of every last one of the "golden generation"... They have had their chances now. Gerrard was good, but I wouldn't take him to the World Cup if we qualify, nor Terry, Lampard, or Cole (best left back in the world? He's not world class for me. Great defensively, but there are better, and attacking-wise he's not as good as half the left backs in the tournament). The latter perhaps the only one who may get a squad place. It's time for younger players to be used ala Germany. We gave the old guard the send-off, now we must move on.

Well done England. That's as good as we are and we've given a very good account of ourselves this time round. All the tools who get on their backs will have to find something else to crib about now, because if you can't see the passion and effort that has gone into this tournament, then quite frankly you're a moron! It would be nice to be better and we're working towards that now with the players we have coming through, but we played to our strengths. Hodgson did a fantastic job in a short space of time and really got them playing for each other.

Italy are a very good side but lack the cutting edge to trouble the Germans. I said we had to stop Pirlo and we didn't. He ran the game from start to finish. To be fair he led Xavi etc a merry dance at time in the Spain game. You have to get tight and stay tight. Indeed I'm not usually an advocate of it but against Italy I'd have considered man marking him. They rely so heavily on him.

Feel sorry for Cole. Never lets England down and has been our best player at the last three torunaments. Never usually looks tired, but for such an excellent penalty taker, that looked a tired pen. At least he had the balls to step up. We did our best and that's all any supporter worth their salt can ask.
