After seeing the way that this club has operated particularly in the past four years I'm going to work on the theory that -

a) Yes we have sold him
b) After making him our club captain
c) In the dying hours of the eve before our premiership open
d) With only two other senior centre backs being allocated squad numbers

I'm going to chose that all of those points are true then if I'm disappointed it can only be in a good way, but I figure it's best to expect the worst with this club then anything else can only be good news.

If he's not in the squad tomorrow / withdrawn late due to injury then there you go, but chances are we'll know by 12:00 tomorrow when the club / sources have time to react

The Daily Fail and the Spanish version of goal.com start **** about Colo leaving and everyone starts pissing themselves?

We should keep our minds focused on tomorrow's game.
 
When you think about it you can see why Ashley would be keen on selling him -

* He's reported to be on 80k a week
* 5 million euro with 2 years left on his deal at 29 years old isn't bad
* From Colo's point of view he's back in Spain and playing Champions League football

But you can see why it might very well be bollocks -

* He's just been recently made captain
* This story surfaced in the Spanish and British media three or four weeks ago
* Now it's popping up again, but everything seems to be linking to or referencing that Italian website.

I've seen stories from foreign football websites talking about clubs being rumoured to be in for players they've already signed they are that far behind in the news, so if it's all stemming from that Italian website then it's just printing old rubbish and others are jumping on the bandwagon thinking this site has something new to add that they don't.
 
We sell Colo we're ****ed. Squad depth more than anything. 2 CB's would be horrific.

Thankfully this looks like bullshit.
 
Every time I see a thread like this, to calm myself down I just keep reminding myself we have the best defensive midfielder in the league and everything is dandy again.

Think Tiote could be gone in the January window mind, if he lives up to expectations... by then of course the money will be silly and a lot of the Ashley apologists will be spamming that it's 'just great business'.

I don't buy into that, that every player from a 'lower' team will definitely move at the first chance they get if they play well.

I agree - but it seems to me that Ashley &co would be unlikley to want to turn down a large sum and it's not like there isn't at least a suspicion that they've forced players into untenable situations... at least that's a common enough view on your board.

It pains me as a fan to say that far as footy goes these days it seems like everyone has their price. I'd be the first to applaud any player willing to stick with a team who was shaping up for mid-table stability (I'm going on what your manager has been saying lately) faced with the carrot of higher earnings and prospects of CL play an another club. And yes - I do think he would walk into most teams (what salary is he on does anyone know? 40K a week or so?)
