Thinking about it, Colo has a very small resale value, much like Lover and Shola. MA wouldn't make enough on him to consider a sale, so he can't possibly leave, can he? <cry>

This is what the Argentine International told the Newcastle web-site:

“I am thrilled to be named captain of Newcastle United. It is one of the proudest moments of my career,”

“Leading the team out in front of our supporters in our first game against Arsenal will be a great honor for me and I aim to give my best for the team and the supporters throughout the season.

“I would also like to than Alan Pardew for putting his faith in me. It means so much to me.”

“I had no hesitation in choosing Fabricio to be my captain next season.

“He will lead the team in a different manner to Kevin but his professionalism, attitude, application and fantastic character made him the standout candidate.”

“And, in my mind, the 100 per cent right decision.”

Pardew said: “We have secured a few of the players on long-term deals and we haven’t lost them all.

“We still have Coloccini and Tiote and good young players who can impress our fans.

.

Chappaz: We heard all that **** from Carroll.

I'm quite concerned by the pace this rumour is gathering. Imaging losing Colo and Jose within 48 hours of the season starting.

The only sources i take seriously are MSI Douglas, and L'Equipe for French related players.

It's very different. Pardew has said those things only a day or two ago, and this is reportedly only for around £6mill. It isn't a deadline day transfer for a MASSIVE sum of cash which NUFC couldn't refuse. If it was going to happen, it would have been in the pipeline for at least a little while, so Pardew would know and he wouldn't set himself up to get shot down in such spectacular fashion.

If we sell, him we are going to be relegated!!!. No way can we survive a season in this league with two senior CB's one of them being very average, il let you guess who i mean!!!

What makes you so sure? Woodgate was sold behind Robson's back in similar circumstances, and Ashley is even more dishonest than Shepherd was. I didn't believe Carroll would be sold, I didn't believe Hughton would be sacked, I'm not setting myself up for the same fall with Colo.

According to Fabricio Coloccini‘s agent Fernando Lombilla, Valencia are very interested in the player. Lombilla said:
“Valencia are insisting on signing Coloccini, but Newcastle have just named him captain, which is something that hasn’t happened before.
“So it’s very complicated. They love him in England and he even has a song they sing about him, which lasts a few minutes.
“But in a sporting sense, Valencia is a bigger opportunity – and they’re in the Champions League.
“Therefore, there will be a conflict between the emotional and the professional.”

Okay he may not be going tomorrow, but in all honesty can anyone be even be 70% sure he will be here by the time the transfer window shuts?
