Or do those at the top of football in this country need to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror?

I'm not for one moment suggesting this is something new and simply a symptom of the modern game, but with all the millions being wasted upon over priced primadonnas surely something should be done by the suits to stop the rot and support those most in need.

The sooner those involved are named, shamed and prosecuted the better. That is the only way of having a chance of halting such corruption. They will never be completely beaten because thats the way of the world but making some high profile figures suffer will slow it down and perhaps put off some people who might otherwise take part.

As for Gazza, such a shame. I couldn't watch that clip all the way through it was so pitiful.

Apparently someone close to him died recently and he has been unable to cope with that. Okay it can be argued that he has been his own biggest enemy but it is clear he has never been the brightest and if better advised and controlled in his younger days he may have not sunk to the level that there are fears for his life at present. At the start of the clip there is a comment that SAF said he was the best player he never signed. Perhaps if he had gone to United under SAF's wing his life story might have been very different.

I met Gazza briefly in hospitality at Bournemouth 3 or 4 years ago during one of his "institutional periods" where the clinic owner came to the game with him and kept a careful watch. Off the booze Gazza was polite, witty and good company in the few minutes I was with him. It is terrible to see the level to which he has fallen.

I hope against hope that somehow he can get through this.
