I'm not surprised. I don't think I could handle only one day's work in eighteen months.

I hope he gets a run out somewhere more suitable/stable.

It's a shame it didn't work out but it's worth a try. You've got to take a few punts on guys like him because, every so often, one will be - or become - a gem.

Guess the lad wasn't good enough but surely part of a young players development is to, you know, play some games.

One of the few investments in youth from our previous regime and he's not up to it.

Probably brought in as a patsy to make the point that we needed a load of wise, overpaid pensioners.

I'm not sure of our policy re the EDS, but I am aware of what happened at Bristol City U21. My son had a trial there a couple of years ago, he really enjoyed the standard and amount of work he had to do for the 2 weeks he was with them. He didn't get a contract unfortunately, he wasn't up to the standard required at the time. All the U21s had to be bench ready for the Championship and he was competing for a spot with premier league academy players as well as some overseas U21 internationals.

And this was the risk, travelling all the way from Oz?

It was, but he was keen to do it - he had some time with Swindon too with Paul Bodin, he got a real look at being a pro. He left it too late. Pete skapetis came over when he was 16 into the Birmingham academy, my lad stayed at school til 18.
He's resigned to never having a career in football, so is focussing on Uni....

That's a shame Ian. Great dedication in giving it a go though.
