However, if Warnock had made the signings Lambert did over the summer, then no doubt Fernandes would have been disappointed with the lack of big names and Warnocks 'ambition' with the signings.

Still, getting a hard time from the chairman, board, and having a bunch of prima donna's to manage is no excuse for slagging off the ref, opposition, pitch, or anything else that comes to mind after every match, so my sympathy for him is somewhat limited.

I don't know the workings of the inner sanctum of QPR, or any other club for that matter, but I do believe Colin has some valid points. Although he denies it, reading between the lines, the relationship between some of his players and the coaching staff had changed from the euphoria of promotion as champions to finding things tougher in the Prem.
I think manager/player relationship is the key to a successful club. It shouldn't have as much importance as it does but with the egos of managers and greed and self importance of even average players, I'm afraid it does.
We apparently have a positive in great relationship in spades with no prima donnas or sulks when dropped or replaced.
I'm sure Tarabt and Barton have caused one or two upsets at Loftus Road. And an egotistical chairman like Fernandes takes the easy option of sacking the manager rather than sorting the problem, which I presume he is incapable of doing anyway. Thank goodness he never made it to Carrow Road.
And I am disturbed by the growing influence of agents in the game and the apprarent link between managers, players and agents all going to the same clubs. If the clubs had any bottle they would all get together and say they don't accept agents representing players anymore. Lets face it, they have a union for that.
 
i don't have a problem with agents representing players but i do have a problem with agents owning players and holding so much sway over individuals and clubs that they can do as they please. i really don't understand why the whole qpr-joorabchian thing isn't being reported more highly by the media, or has he got a hold on them too?
 
QPR to me look like a club running around looking for a crash.I too have a degree of sympathy for Warnock.You have to acknowledge that his track record is pretty good.I accept that he moans a lot but actually it's characters like him that make the game interesting.
 
i think warnock had hit a bit of a ceiling. its often said that he is a great championship boss but not good enough for the premier league but i think its often said because its totally true. he is so old school in his methods and because of his ego it means as soon as he is in a position to sign better players, players who have often played under better managers, it causes trouble.

i found interesting what he said about how he wished he had hughes agent. this to me is a thinly veiled stab at joorabchian. warnock knows that fernandes has been easily influenced by outside links and whats the betting joorabchian has been in contact saying things like 'my client mr hughes is a big name who could do a better job - and i have loads of big name contacts player wise'. ok, i'm only guessing but thats what it looks like to me and nothing to happen since hughes took over makes me think any different.

qpr are effectively being run by kia joorabchian.

I bet he envy's our young manager, our players, our board, our club, our supporters!

To defend Warnock and other managers who are not rated as Premiership managers, and I don't necessarily disagree about his Prem credentials, I would however like to see how Wenger, Ferguson et al, all considered the Right Stuff for the Prem would have coped with our situation in January 2009 and August 2009.
 
redruth, his philosophy is outdated in my opinion. just check out what he was doing pre-season with qpr- even their fans thought he was barking mad with his techniques. he never got his players fit enough, he doesn't use any pro-zone, fitness coaches, he barely analyses matches, he uses aggression to get players fired up etc. his way of doing things work lower down but they don't cut it with most people these days, especially players who have experienced the other way under better managers. i bet one or two of the new players thought he was from another planet. i'd argue ferguson would probably do a magnificent job whoever he managed! wenger - not so sure. its something i'd love to see - a manager at a top club suddenly take over at a more obscure one, but i doubt it will happen. also agree about the warnock book, which i'm sure is already being penned - it will make extraordinary reading i bet!!
 
But surely you don't expect him to go quietly? Apart from Peter Grant, I haven't heard a manager yet who didn't just need more time, more money, better luck with injuries or an understanding of what they were trying to achieve long term.
