Not really a case of improving us, more a case of increasing the size of a threadbare injury hit squad
Jamie Carragher recently said that players look at ambition, finances and geography when they are looking at a move. He was talking about Newcastle but exactly the same applies to us. Except of course, Newcastle are in the Premier League and we're staring League 1 in the face. Thanks to Ellis Short, the club shows no ambition and has no finances. We have exactly the same geographical problems as Newcastle. Maybe Wigan and Blackburn did do better business than us, but for some reason players seem to prefer the Greater Manchester area to the North East. Yes, McCarthy, Smith, and even Reid did well on limited budgets. However, I very much doubt that their budgets were as limited, comparatively speaking, and the football world has changed massively since their day. In short: IT'S NOT COLEMAN'S FAULT, IT'S ELLIS SHORT'S.
