Exactly, I said the same thing before when we needed 3 more wins than those above us. Two more wins than Soton, Wigan... shouldn't be that difficult, should it?
I have a funny feeling we will only need to 36\37 to stay up, so I would look at 7/8 wins and some draws and all good, maybe even get away with 6 wins a lot of draws. But I agree, should looking at it one game at a time, one swallow doesn't make a springroll.
You can beat us but i think we're the only side to score in every away game and Bale & Lennon are in fantastic form so you will need a MOTM display from Adel. I'm not that confident about the game as we have a crap record at loftus road, also both wins under redknapp have been london derbies when form isnt so important, which shows your players have the ability to stay up.
Do you think Arry will set you up to attack from the start or be tight and aim for a slender victory? One thing about us, is we struggle to break teams down unless they come out and play so Arry may well set you up to keep it tight.
The other issue, to answer the OP, is what effect any new signings might have if we get any. It is clear that Harry has his work cut out simply in pursuading quality players that it is worth a punt at LR. I fear we will not be seeing the likes of Chris Samba or Anelka etc. Likely lower league players or those from overseas wanting a ladder to the PL.
That first half at WHL in September was as good as we ever played under Hughes, but for some great saves from Friedal we could've been 3 up at half time against a Spurs (team and crowd) still unsure of AVB. A real case of what if (for both sides as Spurs were booed off even at 0-1 at half time)
If we can get four points from 13 games then a few others can easily get just 9, 10 or 11 from 15 games. It is just a case of doing the best we can each and every week and hope that those above us don't do as well. It is possible (although unlikely) for us to stay up on 30 points. It is also possible for us to be relegated on 45 points. However, last night showed us that anything is possible!
Let's be factual about this. 1 It is unlikely that 40 points will be the safety margin. It is usually less than that. 2 We have games against all the teams around us still to play. 3 We have played all the teams at the top of the table away from home. 4 We have all the teams at the top still to play at home with the exception of Chelsea. 5 We can beat anybody on the day. Chelsea twice, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool and Stoke twice bear testament to that fact. 6 Our weakness so far has been in picking up points against the weaker teams. However a change in tactics since the demise of the miserable Welsh git should yield a positive return as we learn to try to win games rather than strangle the life out of them and walk away with a point Can we do it? Yes of course. That is why some of us have said, consistently, that we should not chuck in the towel. It will be difficult and there will inevitably be setbacks but keep the faith and we do have a chance. Boss is absolutely right. Anyway where do you get 15 from? 38 minus 21 = ??????????????????
I checked the Bet365 odds this morning for us to beat Spurs - 16/1. Just checked again now and 3/1 with them at 10/11. Rather dramatic change so I guess the bookies know that something is up, at least I hope so!
You're right, for some reason I had in my head 36 games, when of course it is 38. Unfortunately, I don't know how to change the OP Title [can anyone help here?] - so it stays!
