I have a qualm about your chosen signature.

"Going down on a high: Newcastle 0 - 3 Sunderland Farewell, ya mag bastards!"

Obviously the message is merely a cheeky swipe at the Toon, but the term "Farewell" is most commonly used in situations where the leaving party is never coming back, it differs from a goodbye, in which the leaving party is open to (or in this case likely for) a swift return. I hope this helps.

It's being used as an interjection(to express an emotion or sentiment) not an adjective(A farewell dinner/performance. which could imply it's final). so it means nothing more than best wishes.

Break up the word, the clue is there.
