Why do I get this feeling that this is a closing of ranks at GY, and that Matt was closer to the mark than they want to admit. IMO Slade may well have said to Curtis something like, come along and see what you think, there could be a job for you in the offing. Slade is now trying to cover his back.

But Grimsby are not doing too badly now only 3 points from playoff places.. The way things are going at both clubs the nightmare scenario could be us playing them next season with Scunts leapfrogging us as well.
