To be fair to him he has turned in a few very good performances during his time here, just a shame he couldn't do it consistently. The Portuguese league might suit him much better with a much slower pace and more time on the ball.

I was talking to my dad about Coates earlier this season and when I mentioned he was in his mid twenties he nearly spat his drink out, he thought he was an old timer at the end of his career. I can see why too.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. Coates left over three hours ago. Gerrin.

Portuguese giants Sporting CP have completed the signing of Sebastian Coates on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Sporting welcomed Coates to the club on their official Twitter account;

They also announced his signing on their official website, with Sporting confirming that they have an option to buy the Uruguayan for €5m (around £3.8m).

Coates only signed for Sunderland permanently in the summer after an impressive end to last season, as he played his part in helping Dick Advocaat steer Sunderland to safety. That impressive form disappeared this season, culminating in Coates dropping down the pecking order once Sam Allardyce took over. Yesterday's signing of Lamine Kone created the opening for the 25-year-old to complete his move to Sporting.

Although Coates looked ill-suited to the Premier League, he should find the style of Portuguese football much more too his liking, so we will hopefully see his move become permanent at the end of the season.
Good news - changing tack a bit - wonder if Debuchy and Ayew are dependent on Arsenal getting the Leicester lb - Ben Chilwell and Swansea Alberto Paloschi from Chievo -the forward they are linked with ???????? - we'll probs have deadline day jitters to look forward to

Debuchy is behind Bellerin and Chambers... he's gonna be allowed to leave for sure, but Arsenal will want some £ for the loan.

I hear he has offers from Europe as well, Lille and Bayer Leverkusen... he was a decent full back before his injury, there's bound to be plenty of interest.
