We haven't talked much about this lad really. I've been concentrating on the disappointing news but this could be a good addition. I know he's a young Uruguatan CB. Is he quick? Remember a great goal he scored at QPR. Can he play fullback? Hopefully left footed?
Good shout and with the lack of signings and disappointment around today this lad might go relatively unnoticed.
Nads is the man to critique him, I certainly wouldn't say he's pacey, looks languid to me. Nads knows more about him and rates him more highly than me though.
No, he's not quick, but he has good feet and decent passing range. Is he quicker than JOS? Yeah, but so is the Titanic, in it's current resting place on the seabed.
Coates to you is a good move for both clubs. He came to us with bucket loads of potential as a starter for the Uruguayan national team (not bad for his age then). His injury last year was a big blow (out for the entire season) and before then he was starting to lose his way. His preseason this year was really good and confirmed to us all that we wanted to keep him and see how he does (well on this forum) - a loan to a solid prem team will do wonders for his experience and prove whether he's really cut out for it in this country
I was on your board when you signed him, having watched him in the u19 World Cup and seeing a genuinelly excellent CB, in the Rio when he wasn't **** category, great on the ball and good distribution. I'm more than happy with this one personally, I know he's way better than he's shown to date. People are saying 'x games in 3 years', didn't he spend most of the middle season on loan back to Nacional?
