Back to the original thread about CMS. Personally I think big mouth Fry has ''shot his bolt'' It seems strange to me that a player that is such a hot property has not gone yet! P. League clubs are lining up for him ??????????????? Yes he is good but better than Holt? No i don't think so. Been suggested we can't afford him. At 3 million I think we could have but was Holt worth 3 million as we came out of league 1,again I don't think so. CMS is highly rated and rightly so but also over priced.
Fry has been trying to talk the price up, but now I think many managers know what he is like and interest is starting to cool. I feel sorry for CMS might end up staying with Peterborough just because Fry is an '' Arse hole''
I see people on here slating Chris Martin, which I feel is a little unfair. He was excellent in League 1 and was doing ok in the Champinship until his ''injury'' At least he is proven in the Championship.
I know many City supporters would love to see CMS at CR (for obviuos reasons) but i for one say move on, we have enough up front. Lets spend the money on the back four. I think we are going to need some help there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Martin scored 4 goals in the championship and 2 in the league cup for a team who won promotion, CMS scored 10 league goals for a abismal team who got relegated from the championship! CMS is better than martin, though not as good as holt!

i actually think it might be the other way round - rather than cms holding out for more money, cms holding out for norwich's interest...lambert and city have the reputation of getting the most out of lower league players and we are probably a far more attractive option than the likes of an everton or wigan where he's going to well down the pecking order...
a large part of me would prefer us to stick two fingers up at barry fry and say no thanks - boro clearly overvalue cms - he was middling to average the last time he had a crack at the championship, let alone anything else...
i think coaxing marc libbra out of retirement would be far more beneficial...

Some rumours, for what they are worth is that Norwich, Everton & Wigan are the only 3 with an interest.
QPR, Celtic and anyone have dropped out.
Other rumours suggest Swansea are now after him.
F*ck knows what's going on but I wish it would be resolved one way or the other.

With EIGHT strikers on our books at present why should we spend £3m on CMS?
Holt, Vaughan, Morison, Jackson, C Martin, Johnson, McDonald & Wilraham. Assuming that we play 2 strikers in most games and the first four listed are the main choice then to me it seems that the last four are either leaving or going out on loan. If somebody wants C Martin then sell him. McDonald has proved himself in League 2 so a step up to League 1 seems possible although Championship may be a step too far. Both Martin and McDonald are a prospect in the lower leagues and are, IMO worth at least £1m in total. There was a rumour that Earnshaw was looking to return to CR but this was about the most rediculous rumour of the silly season

We wont have 8 strikers at the start of August. probably 6. I can see Johnson, McDonald & Wilbraham all playing elsewhere either permanently or on loan. Holt, Jackson, Vaughan, Morrison, Martin and CMS would be a good squad frontline.
That is why we may still be in the hunt for CMS. If we don't get him then we'll probably hold on to either McDonald, Johnson or Wilbraham.
