Not usually a Roy basher but it's a bit silly Clyne will make his debut in a relativly important competitive game after being ignored during meaningless friendlies. Could've given him a little time to gel with his fellow England chums. Good luck to him though, really earnt it.

Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being the best England player on the pitch by miles.

For best player on the pitch? we can wait and see now can't we.

There's a few looking good at the moment, though the opposition might have something to do with that.

The "Boy Done Good".....well done Clyny!
Not surprised by quality of his performance as he has been playing at that level all season

Thought he did very well. Not really involved as much 2nd half but did more than enough overall.

From the Telegraph:

Nathaniel Clyne is England’s best right-back

One of the most intriguing summer transfers was Arsenal’s decision to spend £16 million on buying Calum Chambers from Southampton. It would be an exaggeration to say Southampton were thrilled to lose another player but, when the bid came in, there was also little internal hesitation at saying ‘yes’. Why? Because Southampton have a sophisticated analytics department and their conclusions were simple. Chambers was regarded as a good prospect who may well evolve into a midfield player but they were absolutely sure in identifying Nathaniel Clyne as their best right-back. Nothing that has happened so far this season has changed their mind and even Roy Hodgson now seems to agree. Clyne repaid that faith both in diligently performing his defensive duties but also demonstrated his willingness to overlap. On an evening when few England players shone, Clyne showed he is the most complete full-back in the country.

What a nice boy! I'm sure he made his friends and family proud. He did it for me. One of those players who gets overlooked. I hope he also realises that the way the team at SFC play makes him look good. Nathaniel, learn from our summer evacuees. You can achieve greatness at SMS

He came here because he knew we would better for him than a team like United, so has his head screwed on right. There may be a few more players who realise that....we may not like being a stepping zone, but we could also benefit. Promising players may pick us ahead of others and then we sell for a profit. Meanwhile, we march on. :)
