The lads gone from being a nobody to national attention and a £15m transfer, setting himself high standards. That in itself is probably a crushing pressure. He was **** for us in the games he played this season as well. Maybe, probably most likely, he just played out of his skin last season and won't reach that level again. Opportunity of a lifetime, living the dream playing in the premier league in a **** team with zero expectations of himself or the team. Now he's got to prove he's up to it. New season new team new mindset new pressures. I reckon he'll sink. Hope he comes good though mind, not many of your humble every day lads like him in the premier league.
He's got to be a million times better than that ****e we got off you. He's allegedly a left back and he's ****. Worst left back I have seen play in our colours for years.
We've seen that kind of thing before when Chester went to West Brom and didn't seem to do great. And sometimes it just doesn't work for a player somewhere, whether because of the manager or other reasons. He has talent but needs to be used in a system that suits him. He was picked there for us as we had a laughably thin squad thanks to our owners.
You don't pay £13.5m for a player and then play him out of position! But how many times have we seen this..? It's like Everton trying to fit three number 10s in their team..
It's really puzzling, Tony Pulis paid £10m was it? for James Chester and then played him at right back. If a manager wants a right back and has 10 to 15m to spare, why not sign a freakin right back?
Because Pulis doesn't use full backs, he likes to use four centre halves who never advance out of their own box.
He also likes 6" 5 ****ers back there, but signed Chester at 5" 11. Do they spend millions on players without even checking out their basic stats?
He is certainly no left back, we played him there on a couple of occasions and he was awful. Against Watford for example he was run ragged by their right winger. Central midfield is his best position.
Didn't play a lot for us but never let us down - not good enough to start but very good back up. Surprised he's not made more of an impact but perhaps he doesn't suit you or Championship. Shame for him and you.
To be honest he looks like a kid who's been promoted to the first team. It's not like he's got particularly identifiable weaknesses, just looks out of his depth and doesn't seem to win anything.
Got it bang on. I was always amazed that he'd played over 100 senior professional games with Falkirk before coming to us. I would have expected more footballing nous.
He has no pace whatsoever, positionally very weak and he struggles to find a team mate with a pass. I hate being critical of our own players - but he's gash.
Having seen him play in midfield, playing in that position pundits were calling for him to be considered for an England cap - why do managers then play them in a different position? Baffles the life out of me. Clement must have gone to the Tony Pulis school of football management.
