He played 22 games for us last season. Missed the other 16 with injury. That's not exactly great. He's only played 172 club games his entire career (12 years). So we slightly improved n his average. I agree he's in great form but can't imagine a player with such a poor injury record going for big money. This "****ing mess" isn't as bad (IMO) as you make it out. 10 years in the premier league. Longer than in most of our lifetimes. Perennial yo yo to perennial strugglers is an improvement in my book. I remember the third division. Vividly. Remember the 15 and 19 point seasons (where I missed 3 games in both seasons) Btw. I think he's worth more than £3.5m but he's asked to leave and is injury prone. That makes it a buyers market for him. Also, we're relying on Keith Downey who has been off the mark before.
He was injury prone when we bought him and we paid more for him, he has had one of his best ever seasons, resurecting his career, southern jpurnalists were laughing at us for buying a wreck, now he is pivotal, as is Kone and Defoe, to our survival this season and we let him go for peanuts, " for personal reasons" which evidently will be solved by playing for Watford, come on.
Or by living in London? Where he's been since he moved to the uk. Watford are just lucky they're in the market. Saying he is pivotal to our survival is rubbish. He's a good defender undoubtedly. But he's not pivotal. Organisation and discipline are pivotal. He wants to go and we don't then we likely end up with a disgruntled centre back. He's obviously not happy in the north east. Didn't want to come up here when Keane was here either.
Even so we should have at least doubled our money on him to buy a suitable replacement, maybe a player who would consider honoring a contract signed in the full understanding of our geographical location. No, from my point of view this lad, who I was one of the first to champion on this board, has used us, and walked out at just about the worst possible time. Its an uninsured car crash, which could lead to others having personal issues, watch this space.
Couldn't agree more, had a few good games as all did towards the end of the season. Pivotal for me was M'Villa, Cattermole and Kirchhoff in front of these two lads. If we can't progress without him god help us. He'll play 20 games for Watford this season.
for me YK was the perfect replacement for the knackered JoS, he organised the back four as JoS had done but the huge difference was he could actually play his part as well, something JoS could never do. No, YK was the catalyst for our defensive improvement imo.
Thought he played upwards of 30 games last season. Miss a lot with being over here. Still need someone to boss the defence.
LESCOTT NOT JOINING RANGERS Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott will not be signing for Rangers. The former England international has decided against a move to Scotland for family reasons. Please God no.....
Work in minutes mate. He played 2009 minutes last season. He hasn't done that or come close since the 11/12 season. We've kept him fitter than any team has managed in half a decade so I'll stick to my origional point ta as I alread did the research first(always worth doing) Sorry mate, no excuse for losing money on this transfer as far as I'm concerned. Huge insight into how we're in this mess. We've been losing a huge amount of money on everyone we sign. I'm not the type to say it could be worse, we once played in the 3rd tier. That's just excusing everything. Like the people who feel in debt because Short bought us, he saved us yada yada yada. Yeah, he's finished saving us a long time ago and now has us in as much debt as we were in when he took over. I'm not going to thank him for false hope and prolonged agony. He can **** off. No pro Ellis arse kissing is going to sway here with me. I just see walk overs with excuses who seem to like being ****ed constantly. Losing money on Kaboul is unacceptable. Hope the **** sells up and pisses off.(Short, not Kaboul, who I with the best) I'm not a coward, I'm not scared to try and progress. We could get worse yes, but we could do a lot lot better. I'm not so scared of change. For **** sake just a few months ago people were saying going down would be a good thing and i would be great to go down and win games. Some of our fan base is as weak as Short, many of which seem happy with less than mediocraty. They talk like we should be grateful for struggle and debt. I'd actually like our owner to grow the business, improved finances, revenue and league position. No I want more for us not less. The pillock needs to **** off as far as I'm concerned. This isn't the straw that's broke the cammels back for me, just more compounding proof which reassures me on a stance i've had for the last few years. ARGH!!!!!!! Rant over.
