You lot are obsessed with oldies arent ya! Obviously rates them highly regardless of how much they cost. Maybe he hasnt spoken to any potential new buyer about what his budget would be
greetings from a dull Portsmouth and what a joyous piece of news this is.just registered so not had time to put any details about me yet.i'm a truck driver and am only visiting Portsmouth tonight.i live in Wakefield and am a happy trucker tonight ...oh and evening one and all.
Seems to me that Bates has run out of money and HAD to sell a large chunk of the club to avoid another administration - lets hope the new "investors" can stop the money haemmorage!!
You sure need them - even little old Millwall are leaving you standing. But seriously - every takeover recently (Man Utd, Man City, Blackburn, Leicester, Liverpool, Cardiff, Pompey, Rangers, QPR, Palarse, Charlton, Southampton etc etc etc) everyone has known who the interested parties were way before anyhting happened - You would have scores of people on both sides knowing about it - Yet not an inkling on who these mysterious (and why would they want anonymity anyway) investors are? This smells of a Bates masterstroke
Welcome on board pal I'm in Andover, you probably past me on the way down about 30 miles away from Portsmouth
This tends to suggest that this is a takeover, not a minority investment. If it was the latter, why would there need to be any "exclusivity"? So what has taken so bloody long so far? We all thought due diligence was already underway. The discussions so far have clearly all been around price and agreeing exactly what is being bought for the price, plus any pay-off for people like Harvey. Fair enough, but again, why would it have to be confidential if it was only a minority investment? This again suggests a takeover, otherwise why would these people have to "support the club"? Bates hasn't supported it since he came in, but it has very nicely supported his lifestyle. I think this is just a bland line that says nothing really. Clearly they are not "off-shore tax-dodging secretive bastards" then? This is clear as crystal. A takeover is in the offing. But it can still be scuppered by any of the potential stakeholders involved
Phil Hay saying he talked to a Sports Lawyer who says taken at face value the statement definitely means takeover.
Kirsty Gallagher clearly knew **** all. Sorry BillyS, you been fed a load of bull. If any journo had known anything of the truth of what was going on, they would have blown the whistle on who the "investors" were as a minimum. As not one person has even been able to find this out, there was no-one outside the parties involved that knew a jot. The confidentiality is also key to this. Any party who wished to scupper the deal could have leaked who was involved at any time. Clearly, Bates (or his representatives) has been at the table the whole time.
Who said anything about KG? The investors who are doing due dilligence have been given an EXCLUSIVITY PERIOD, because they have the best offer on the table right now for a stake. If they want the club they need to get a shift on and offer Bates a LOT of cash to get him to pack his lunchbox and go. Interesting point to look out for if they do raise the money for a buyout is what happens to the loss making Yorkshire Radio!! Please let them buy Bates out...PLEEEEAAASSEEE!!!!!
Call me a cynical bar steward, but why do I expect a mystery new owner who will leave Ken in a "advisory role" at the club.... Most likely will be based in Jersey, Geneva or The British Virgin Islands.... Heck I would not be shocked if it was Astor again coming back to pump in more money to make the "future business" claim come true
Will be funny as **** if this "new owner" remains anonymous. Then sells it back to Bates for £1 after he has paid over the odds (using club funds of course) to Bates - you can see the sly old fox pullng it off too
