Try the food van thing outside if you want a shock. We mostly go to football with a full stomach. The other week we didn't, so at the van outside, I asked for two hot dogs. The bloke said "Ten pounds". I'd clearly misheard him, so I said "Pardon?". He got hold of the money and said, "Ten pounds". A brief tug of war ensued (I'm not kidding) which I won. I told him to forget it and he said "I've already put the hot dog in the bun". I intimated that it was a problem he could deal with if he was getting a tenner for a couple of hot dogs. Inside the stadium I checked. Hot dogs £3.50 each. I thought it was odd to find food cheaper in the stadium than outside then realised that that mindset is exactly what the people with the concession outside are relying on. Bloody capitalists. Vin
Don't get me wrong, I don't disapprove of others who do it, I cannot speak from experience, but it seems the quality is poor, the food and drinks available are mostly bad for diets and I am not a patient person when queuing for anything!
That food isn't good either! I believe you may have missed a marketing opportunity there.... Did you not say that for a tenner the Mayo must surely have been homemade and if not you could help him with his supply chain? * we usually take sandwiches*
Any thoughts on what would be good though, it has to be affordable but good quality. Opportunity for a entrepreneurial marketing executive here?
We like the hot dog van on Melbourne street. Nice dogs and great value. Ones inside are pricey and 'not tasty' according to my 6 year old hot dog expert
True, my guess is that things won't change for the better very quickly. We don't do Prawn Sandwiches, perish the thought.
As a veteran festival-goer, I am amazed at the poor quality food on sale both inside and outside football grounds. Why not an outlet for curries? Just a plastic dish of sauce with a naan or chapatti surely would be better than the stuff they sell now. Or go Mediterranean with something like a Meze?
I indulge in a fish and chip supper after every Saints home win (Saturday 3 o'clock k.o's) but it isn't the cheap meal it used to be. Too many matches have been moved so it is not a common deal these days.....
http://www.footballeconomy.com/content/good-results-Southampton An article about our financial results. Points out that our ratio of wages to turnover compares favourably with other clubs.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 And Mail on Sunday's view. Most interesting point is that Saints cleared 'only' 82 million of the 94 million from players sales because of various costs, including payments owed to other clubs and a 4% EPL levy on sales.
You'd be amazed how many Pompey fans believe that we (or rather Markus) didn't clear our debts...obviously believe 2p in £ is normal.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...al_first_profit_since_administration/?ref=mac The updated Echo report. Rogers talks about our outstanding debts (presumably to KL) which will be cleared over coming years. KL cleared the Vibac debt (which as others have suggested is less than desirable, one newspaper referred to it as a payday loan). The fact that our working 19 million credit loan is secured against KL's estate rather than the club suggests that we would probably have had trouble getting a decent loan as our net worth wasn't that great after the Leihberr debt was taken into consideration. Cortese received a 450K pay off. All of this suggests that they were less than thrilled with the way things were going under Nicola when long term viability was being considered. Rogers said we should see an improvement in commercial income in future years rather than in the next season.
The very lovely Mrs Godders makes a devilishly mean flask of hot Bovril which goes really well with her really strong cheddar cheese doorstep sandwiches. Great at half time and no queuing. Dirt cheap too which I rather favour.
