George Michael and the Beatles hardly were clean living individuals. The rest have also been inspired by more dope than Ben Johnson.

Nothing against the music (like or love a lot of it personally) just appreciate a bit of irony.

Queen or 75% of them (Freddie on the screen) was great. Reminded me of the gig i saw 2008 in the wembley arena. There was Queen+Paul Rodgers. That was pure magic. Eric Idle was class act as always. Also like what i saw when spice girls performed. Scary spice surely is a busty spice nowadays.

"thankfully the olympians don't have the same chequered drug history as all the artists featured"

    Definition:

    1. A short and amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person.
    2. An account regarded as unreliable or hearsay.

Or at least that's the way I interpreted it.

Finishing games based on the virtues of discipline, training, dedication and honesty (in a drug free environment) with music inspired by illegal substances?

    Fits my definition of irony.

Not even having a go because, as I said, I love Pink Floyd, The Beatles, David Bowie and many other artists that have drawn inspiration from dubious sources (and their own unquestionable talent).

Just found it mildly amusing that's all (and brain is fully engaged).

    Of note:-

"The Who take the stage with Baba O'Riley. They also launched the opening ceremony with this song which was featured in the one-minute countdown. The band were formed by Pete Townshend and John Enwistle in Shepherd's Bush - home of the 1908 Olympics."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1908_Summer_Olympics

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_City_Stadium

"Many events of the 1908 Olympics were at the stadium itself (except for several football games hosted at Shepherds Bush Green), whereas nowadays there are many arenas."

"Also in 1931, Queens Park Rangers F.C. began the first of two spells playing at the stadium, until 1933 (the second spell was from 1962–63). QPR eventually decided against a permanent move to White City and stayed at Loftus Road."

I'm not a fan but that took some guts by Gary Barlow. He has had a terrible time of late. Well done GB.

Began well, middle was terrible, but ended ok.

Who thought the Spice Girls would ever be a good act to perform in the closing ceremony? Dreadful and embarrasing at best.

Gary Barlow had alot of guts to do what he did and he deserves alot of credit. I must say the best bit was Eric Idle. Brilliant!
