Would you describe that as good man management? I wouldn't.
In a normal company I could understand it, but in football these people are both employees and assets.
Redknapp seems to have favourites, from what I can see.
Some players can act up and get away with it, whereas others end up on the scrapheap after one mistake.
Di Canio and King both had off field problems, making the headlines for the wrong reasons, yet they were both welcomed back into the fold.
Others haven't been as fortunate.
To be fair PNP, you and everyone else have been told about all of these players problems in detail, yet every chance you get you still say Harry alienated them. So I'm sorry mate, but even when you have been informed as you have in all these instances, you still choose the stock answer. You take a very simplistic approach at times, yes it is man-management to smooth things over, but I'm afraid not everything is fixable, its been attempted to move these players on many times...see Chairman! Personal probs are just that, personal.You are right though about upsetting squad depth.
That was the point though smart, we should not have been told it should have been inhouse. Making it public did not help these players at all.
Sorry Notso, but I find it hard to believe that so many players, who've all made it to the top of their profession and are all seasoned internationals, were beyond use.
The six players that I named have 308 caps between them, an average of over 50 per man.
That someone with supposedly amazing man management skills couldn't get anything out of any of them puts those skills into question, for me.
Redknapp did a great job with us and his tactical abilities and knowledge of the game are underplayed and underrated, in my opinion.
His ability to get the best out of a small squad is undoubted and, for me, unquestioned, but he simply can't run a larger squad and keep players happy.
Those that fall outside of his regular group of about 15 players just drop off the radar and often may as well not be there.
Not sure Bentley did his best to keep it inhouse when he wrapped his car round a lamp post whilst being over the drink drive limit. Not sure KPB (who Harry allegedly alienated), did his best to keep it inhouse when he vandalised a car in Germany when there on loan.

The manager doing a u-turn in front of the rest of a well behaved squad, on the poor behaviour of a few just to appease rotation, is just as bad for morale and not a good signal to send, the number involved in that period is unfortunate but it happened and he dealt with it.

Well it's not going to apply to every player Spurcat, but he didn't do Pavlyuchenko or Dos Santos or Bent any favours. I would add that I can see the limitations of those three players but nevertheless they could have been more productive for us if they had been handled with a little more tact. Except Bent.
It's possible for example that Pav would have been more useful to AVB than Defoe. I know that is controversial but seeing him play for Russia I thought we never saw that at Spurs. Why? luck? good fortune? who knows, but I am left with the feeling that we did not get the best from him. As with Rebrov in former times
We all know that you were a big Kranjcar fan. I myself would have been happy to keep him as a squad player. However, it seemed that he wanted more than that. Of the others mentioned, Pav is the only one I would have any regrets about losing - and they're not huge ones. He most definitely had, what our American friends call, "an attitude problem"
It has long been suspected, and somewhat confirmed by OS, that many of the mentioned players had "issues" with the requirements placed upon them by their chosen profession.
GDS could well have perhaps worked well in AVB's system but I think his time had come here tbh. I did love Pav :'(
On Dempsey, my only observation is that this guy is a striker. I don't care where in the line-up he is notionally playing, his instincts positioning and finishing are that of a top striker. Lots of the goal in the original video are tap ins from deflections or keeper parries and they are the goals that strikers get, not wingers or midfielders.

Another thing that stands out on the vid of Dempsey last season was the number of goals he scored in or around the 6 yd box.
That augurs really well for getting on the end of Bales (and Lennons??) crosses. Something that defoe consistently fails to do. Dempsey looks a natural goal poacher. Will be interesting to see how he coordinates with Ade.
