The real issue is why Clayton needs to be sacrificed at all, it's not as if we haven't made enough money already from the sales of Kasper, Gradel, Howson etc, plus compensation money. Warmock's given himself one season to get promotion, Clayton's got one season left on his contract. We'd be better off keeping him than selling him for what? £500,000? The lad's on £3k pw at the most, good player and an ideal back-up CM at the very least.
precisely. The whole "well if his fee can get us better players then it's a good idea" is just more bollocks we get fed by the club. We have enough money that we shouldn't need to sell players like this just to provide the funds to get new players in.
