It wouldn't surprise me if that is written into his contract! Tough really, but such is life in the industry.
if SAF was a new young manager at Manure he would have not lasted long enough to win his first trophy Some of the old greats in the old first division were in charge of their clubs for upto 20 yrs but would not survive today because they only won a few trophies in that length of time
We are not comparing apples with apples. We appoint a head coach, who can bring a team of other coaches , yes , but the clubs' model (as espoused by Duxbury) is that the the structure is fixed , so that they can change personnel more easily, rather than obsessing about the best fit etc. In 'the old days' the manage' was so important, and influential that changing him meant a complete upheaval in the whole organisation. Doesn't happen now. I think it's worth adding here that sacking Xisco was not ( I think) a knee-jerk reaction to one loss following a home draw. The hierarchy waited to see if Xisco had the nous or whatever to mould a newish squad - of more talented players arguably - to compete against a significantly higher level of ability and organisation. Sadly , he didn't. We were lucky to be 3-0 up against Villa , although we did dominate the 1st half, and Cucho scored a superb goal - no fluke at all. We out played Naarwich ( suck that up Sutton !) but realistically that is all we have achieved this season. The whole confidence mentality seemed to have drained from the players, Rose excepted , Sissoko some of the time, Sarr intermittently , King is a decent replacement for TD9 , but Dennis isn't up to speed , Masina has been exposed, Etebo is a loss. Ranieri is a change - he is high profile. The rest have been largely under-rated coaches who have taken us up a bit. Anyway, it's one hell if a ride , and the pundits pontificating away have , largely, never actually coached/managed at this level. Well Shearer did, but best if we draw a veil over that one -although at least he tried it.
I did not realise that I do love this song I just hope the Pozzos find a way to use when we play LiVARpool
This is unsurprising- was probably on stand by for a while. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ranieri-reveals-gino-pozzos-watford-approach/
He's quoted in Football Italia as saying it was Giampaolo who made the approach, not Gino. One and the same in most minds I suppose.
Very affectionate and jolly. Let’s hope he has a lot to smile about in the coming weeks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58903368
Does anyone think his job is in a bit of danger if we lose the next two? I know, I know, he is the highest profile manager we've had in a long time. He is doing ok with the players he has, he says the rights things, he seems a lovely bloke, etc, etc. But, lose to Burnley (If I was a gambler, I'd be placing a wedge on that) and then at home to Palace and that'd be 6 losses on the bounce with Wolves away next. We know what our owners are like too. They are not shy to pull the triger and too soon in some cases. For the record, I hope I am well off here, and that he gets some defensive reinforcements in January. There I said it, cat amongst the pigeons.
