where do you work. having all ways wanted to be able to tell customers to fcuk off and die it seems that my employers policy that this is a sackable offence is not as it should be just in case they sack later today will you be able to successfully defend me at my industrial tribunal.

It would be most unusual in this day and age for an organisation not to have a code of conduct; contraventions of which, likely sackable offences ... I don't have knowledge of King Powers' version any more than anyone else ... but it will be there.

if his lawyers can prove otherwise then fair play to them ... but I'd be amazed if King Power made the decision to sack him without first consulting their own lawyers for advice ...The specific point you make is a good one ... I've worked in a service industry for 30 years and if I'd spoken to a customer similarly I know what the outcome would be, irrespective of any 'provocation' ... anybody making a defence that football is different is just wrong ... laws, criminal or employment based, are just as valid for the footballing community ... as the courts have shown when tested ...

.. no more than to be being a surgeon, an airline pilot or a presenter of TV show about cars
.. but that isn't the point ... despite the differences in occupation the basic principles of being an employee do apply .. expected codes of behaviour set in place by the employer ... you are not forced to sign the contract - you are expected to abide by it having done so ..... and don't give me 'the pressure' as an excuse ... these guys are paid an absolute fortune - consider this .. if you or I get sacked for misconduct it could mean losing your house and pretty much everything else ... would be difficult to get another job in the same industry with that on an employment record ... contrast that with the football industry - a bubble where failure can quite often be rewarded with a future lucrative contract

One of the posts of the year, that FF.Football IS very different for, among others, the reason I've mentioned in my previous message. No laws have been broken, Hell, the football league haven't taken any serious action against him. It's just his actions gave he critics some ammunition because his record doesn't. As I keep saying, I'd take a rude yet successful manager any day over a polite yet inefficient one.
no but because its only 1 person rather than 30000 makes a difference. Where as being paid minimum wage working a late shift at mcdonalds rather than what ever he was on. means its ok to as they have higher standards of customer care than city.

You really think money affects how you behave when experiencing, for the first time, a high pressure situation that you cannot simulate beforehand? I'd say, just like Pearson before he got into the Premier League, you have't got a clue how it would affect you. You can sit in your armchair and say I would be fine, and thankfully for you, we'll never be able to prove you wrong.
You're belief that money makes a difference is misplaced, although I success that professional, nice guys managers that don't lose their cool, get on fine with the board and let big name players walk all over them ARE motivated by money, and therefore can keep up the facade more easily. They also manage to keep jobs at high levels too because if these factors, despite lacking passion and despite average records for the clubs they're at. Now why is all this starting to sound familiar...?
People get sacked for misconduct all the time and walk into other jobs. Former employers are not legally allowed to give you a negative reference, and if employers didn't employ people that had had their contracts terminated, then I suggest at least a quarter of Britain would be out of work!
No need for the rudeness and arrogance around football? Perhaps. Or perhaps their needs to be more understanding that, for the fans, football feels like more than a sport, that we heap the pressures of successful and failure onto players and managers, so to them its more than just a job. Or we can carry on living in denial and comparing it to our jobs in McDonalds and Sainsburys.
Are you suggesting that a franchise holder at mcd's is not as passionate about burgers as football managers are about football?

Keep going round the houses on this one. If the "pressures" of football management turn Pearson into a totally different character to that of what he is away from it then he is best out of it and should find another career path, journalist maybe?
good point we all seem to make excuses for footballers passion, short career, pressure media spot light etc but they are lucky to be in a well paid job at the end of the day.

I lost my father to a sudden heart attack when I was 19 years old ... from that time I was the man of the household ... I've worked in a high pressure industry all my life .. in 2005 I got made redundant at the time that my missus was 8 months pregnant whilst being simultaneous told that my mother was terminally ill ... I've been through a messy divorce (different woman) that nearly sent me under financially and despite having a very well paid job (yes I got another) will need to work until I'm 70 (or dead) before I will be able to retire ... I started working in my current field in March 1986 and have not had one day off sick to date .... now I'm not looking for any sympathy or understanding ... life throws **** at you and you just have to deal with it ... I think I am arrogant ... I'm certainly opinionated ... but I have never felt the need to abuse a colleague or customer and I will never do so ...
... now Nigel Pearson ought to be able to retire tomorrow if he wants to ... he's younger than me ... he has earned a living either kicking a ball around a manicured field or managing a bunch of tossers who do that ... Yes, we are getting repetitive, as I've said myself that Pearson needs to look at his actions before getting into his next job. NOT because anything he did in the public eye was a sackable offense, but because it gives your detractors and the media ammunition to use against you and would be frowned upon by the club's men-in-suits. If he feels he can't handle the pressure better, perhaps he'd be better suited to staying out of the limelight, perhaps a coaching role, which would be a disappointing waste of his talents. Personally, I think whether he changes or not, he'll get a job anyway at a club that judges on results,

Well try taking your situation, perform it in from of 32 thousand people, with millions more watching around the world, all judging you, often negatively, the whole time, including fans that are SUPPOSED to be on your side but often aren't, and including the media, who may or may not be influencing the opinions of your employers at any given time, and you may be getting close to the pressures of football management.
Talking about money and retirement makes me think you're missing the point still; they're not fearing for their jobs or their financial situation, more that they'll go down in history as a failure or not. Being generally anonymous, we cannot even begin to fathom this. It's better to be successful than anonymous, but better to be anonymous than a failure.
