You may have said that elsewhere, but I was referring to your belief that his CV was reason to believe that he will be as if not more successful than our previous manager (that because of his connection to "Roma, Inter, Monaco, Juventus, Napoli, Valencia, Fiorentina, Parma or Athletico Madrid" you "personally can't fathom why you would see Ranieri as less likely to take us to the next level than Nigel?").
As I said, by that logic, Sven was a better appointment than Pearson because Sven's CV included a similar list of Euro giants. Football, indeed most careers, don't work like that. Sven's ideology, methods and tactics had seen better days and his lack of knowledge of the English game was woefully exposed while Pearson, who's never won a serial A title or Spanish cup, managed to surpass all that experience. It's about drive, hunger, hard work and determination as well as the the previously mentioned traits. A bit of knowledge of the English lower leagues and youth set-ups also help. Will Ranieri have those qualities?
His motivation is largely irrelevant; he can come here for the money for all I care if he succeeds. What is important is that he brings a model for success for a club of our size with our targets - something he hasn't had experience of since his Cagliari days
"giving him a chance" sounds to me you're not actually over the moon with this appointment either. The phrase "damning with faint praise" springs to mind. As others have said, when the first ball is kicked, we will support our team, but until then I will feel uncomfortable about recent events which I feel were largely unnecessary.
