Happens with a lot of papers...read something on line, but find it isn't in the main paper....though sometimes second editions may contain it. We used to have early editions sent to the Island which meant articles were missing. The on-line pieces obviously can be more up to date.

There's very little chance it would get in the paper because it's not even an article exactly. It's a blog by a Saints fan - Chris Rann who runs http://georgeweahscousin.com/

    Well, it's free ;)

I don't ever read it either, but as Puck says it's clearly a 'fan blog' rather than an actual article. I bet they have others by fans of other clubs, just to add some colour to the sports section of their website.

I've just seen his press conference; he is out of order. The free-kick is a free-kick and for him to say "never in a million years" is crazy.

He needs to start getting hi teams playing better; much better use of his time.

Are managers/clubs allowed to make a complaint if they do not believe a referee's performance is up to scratch? I know at youth level, if unhappy with the referee, you can score them low and write a report as to why you believe they were not very good, but is that in place for that level, or is it only through assessment by assessors?

All these conspiracies do my head in. It's fairly obvious that refs aren't biased and do their best. They make a huge number of excellent decisions which no one on here would be able to make. They make a few mistakes which obviously get far more attention and so they appear to be bad refs. We aren't treated unfairly, no team is with perhaps the exception that big clubs sometimes get more decisions but that would need to be proven with good data before I believed that.

Pochettino: "For me the matter was over a long time ago. I said what I needed to after the game against Everton. It would not be a problem if we had him refereeing again. We would try and have a relationship with him. The whole Clattenburg situation has been forgotten now. Adam is a strong mental player, he has moved on from it. It will not affect him. We appreciate that it is a difficult job, but we do feel that we have a right to complain when we feel hard done-by."

Think Mauricio said that Lallana was strong mentally...though I do like the idea that he is a mental player.

Think Saints are backpeddling so fast that there is a danger that their wheels will catch fire.

Fair play to Mauricio. That is exactly the right thing to say I think.

Jimmy Case was a "strong mental player".

Yes, though it does rather make you wonder why they made such a fuss about it.

And also indicates that it certainly wasn't MP who pushed it further...

The difference here is that instead of the Rodgers/Moyes approach where you slag the Referee off and get fines and bans, we just politely ask the Referee to be investigated, make a fuss and then walk away, that's not as stupid as it would first appear!

If Moyes had politely asked the PGMOL to investigate comments by Marriner about Ryan Giggs, he might have got away with just a rejection clearing the Referee of any wrong doing. Slagging him off (Marriner) will probably get him a severe ticking off and maybe a small fine......
