An embarrassment for Lallana and your club.

Even more embarrassing is some of you lot on here taking the "there must've been more to it than that" line.

Just accept that Adam Lallana is one of many mollycoddled professional footballers - we have them at our club, too - who behaved like a spoilt brat with no respect for match officials and had a strop because a referee had the temerity to call him out on the matter.

Me to Policeman whilst doing 25 in a 30 limit "Why are you pulling me over, are you blind?"

Policeman to me "Since you got your Ferrrari, you are so different"

Any difference from that and the Adam comment?

So it's a grave matter to question a referee's character, but if a referee questions a players character that's OK..

Oh stop talking like you know what happened. You don't know what Clatternburg actually said, just what was reported he said. Now go back to own board.

Think some fans of other teams are using us as a distraction...get back to your own issues.

I still think this is incredibly out of order and shows a lack of professionalism. People seem to be treating refs like volunteers but they are well paid professionals. If I got cross with a student and said "you've changed since they made you a prefect" I would almost certainly get in trouble over it as it is dealing with my feelings of the individual and not the problem. I might as well say "I used to like you."

Do we want refs to be professional and respectful or arrogant and self important?

So you're taking the mick about a club feeling paranoid about a ref. Have you checked your username?

No, I'm pointing out that the club needs to clarify what they believe was actually said, as the current story's leading to it's captain being ridiculed.
I've already pointed out that I think that Clattenburg's a pillock, though I'm not sure what action would be deemed necessary if the current story's accurate. None, probably.

I agree. Players should be held to higher standards too. However, they are the ones that are affected by the referee's decisions, while the referee is not. He doesn't (hopefully!) have a stake in the outcome of his impartial decision. He shouldn't be affected by the player's impartiality, but the players are affected by his. So I do understand when things aren't going your way, that you would be angry with the referee.

There is however a line that is crossed too often these days. You often see Rooney and Suarez yelling at the officials for nearly every decision that doesn't go their way. This is excessive and just because Suarez is on my team doesn't mean I would be mad to see him punished more for it (when it isn't justified).

And it does show bias unfortunately. Breaking it down it means: "I now have a different opinion about you that I did not have before, and I have felt the need to bring this up when talking about the decision that didn't go your way".

I know why he said it with Lallana screaming at him, but he needs to keep his head clear and not say/think about that.

Let's be fair, this whole situation is embarrassing for the club. You can say "social media doesn't matter" etc, but I guarantee Cortese won't be happy with how we've become a (temporary) laughing stock.
