So he, as a referee, refused to enforce the rules of football, because he didn't want people to use red cards as an excuse for Spurs losing the title?

Isn't he basically admitting willful negligence of his duties as a referee?

They complain about every referee in every game regardless anyway, so it wouldn't have made much difference.

Lots of punters(mugs)make 'in game' bets on throw-ins, corners, fouls and sendings off based on rules being kept to by players and officials, the **** obviously cost mucho dinero to many people that day.

He should be done for fraud!

He's got no right to referee on his terms and which may affect the outcome of the result.

The rules are written down for him to follow. They're not guidelines. They're rules.

Clattenberg admitting what most of already knew, that he was an egotistical bent prick who refereed as he saw fit and not to the rules.

    Both of these <ok>

He shouldn't be going into games with a ****ing "gameplan", his job is to call a foul when he sees a contravention of the rules, and dole out according punishments, when required, pure and simple.
Not to let **** slide because he wants an easy life.

On this matter though, as he, professionally, no longer falls under the jurisdiction of the UEFA referee's association, I don't think they can touch him, at least not professionally, unless they want to pursue criminal charges, which I doubt.
Maybe FIFA could step in, but he's gone now, and it is done, so there isn't really much point to be honest.

Dirtiest performance at Bridge since Leeds 99!

Dier's tackle on Fabregas ;) before Davies hacked down Haza and ref finally blew up was dirtiest passage of play I have seen in 40 years of football.

I loved it!!! One of my top ten games at the Bridge!

  20. Let you give my take on it.

I think Clatty saw what was going down and let things take their natural course.

What do I mean by that?

Well, I think he saw in those Spurs lads the ability to mix it and to out-chav the Chavs, so he let things unfold.

Secretly, he must have marvelled at Dembele’s physical “owning” of Costa. Prior to that night, Costa had been the Guv’nor on the pitch, but not that night.

That night, Costa got slapped real bad, and put back in his little box.

Clatty wanted that to happen. He must have done, or else he would have stepped in.
