Nah I agree. It's nothing like the RVP situation. Bale could have moved away last year when Spurs didn't have CL football, but he stuck with those crap perennial under-achievers.

RVP spent much of his Arsenal career injured, and it showed a remarkable level of patience from the club to stick with him and continue to give him every chance to find some consistent form. He left a year after finding that form to join a big Premier League rival.

    1. RVP owed Arsenal for all his years out injured, but Bale owes Spurs nothing.
    2. RVP moved to United. Bale moved to Madrid. If RVP had moved to Madrid, I wouldn't have cared as much.
    3. Bale has every right to want to play in the Champions League. Arsenal already had that.
    4. Bale is much bigger than Spurs, but RVP wasn't much bigger than Arsenal. Bale had every right to want to leave a team that was holding him back.

In other words, RVP is a **** and so is Levy.

I just think there was an underlying bitter tone to his statement. He might well be bitter, but it says a lot about a man who has just milked Real for a crazy amount of money to enable his manager to rebuild his squad. Bale has done nothing wrong either, he's given some of his best years to Spurs and given them a lot of things to be grateful for. As I said, it's classless to be talking about his lack of commitment in an official statement.

What are you talking about PISKIE????

I was told definitively (by HIAG): ""As a matter of principal (sic), Levy won't sell Bale to Real."

Same old same old from the lane, sell their best player for loads of money, buy lots of other players with the money plus a few million extra, then fail.

I tried to say this all along.

Not surprised by Levy's spin, but Levy owes Bale his job. But for Bale then Spurs would have finished 6th/7th in a season after they sacked an experienced manager who guided them to two 4th placed finishes. Both AVB and Levy would have come under insurmountable pressure.

Levy is a good spin doctor though, credit where it's due.

Bale hid a multitude of sins at Spurs last season and without him, his crucial goals and points they would have finished behind the 'mousers' who they love to mock. Levy not only owes Bale his job, but also a huge slice of income for the league position they finished in and the enormous payout from Real.

Levy's statement was classless. Bale obviously wanted to further his career and judging by the way they Levy treated Modric, Bale knew he would have to fight for his move, to say that he lacked commitment to the cause is really below the belt, especially after everything he's done for Spurs.

Reports coming out today that the only reason the Bale deal was delayed in being announced was because Levy knew we were after Real players should Bale join and Levy was trying to prevent us from getting our business done.

He really is a ****ing Shyster of the highest order.

AVB's sides don't create, they rely mainly on direct quick counter attacking, individual brilliance and distance shooting as well as having midfield destroyers that will break up opposition counter attacks. Bale was perfect for that as he had blistering pace and is probably second only to Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to distance shooting and set piece ability. That's why Bale flourished in away games, where teams tend to leave themselves more open and not just get men behind he ball like they would at WHL. The only reason AVB moved Bale down the middle was because of the lack of a playmaker in the middle of the park, a void left by the sale of both Modric and VDV.

In the last 12 months Levy has sold Modric, Bale and VDV and brought in players that are nowhere near their level (Paulinho and Lamela aside). Eriksen was touted by some of Europes top clubs 2 years ago but went off the radar.

Be it Berbatov, Modric or Bale he always manages to portray them as the disloyal sulkers whilst and himself the hero. Signing those players was more about him and his ego rather than thinking about the team.

Like Boss aluded to on the Spurs board, he's left an inexperienced manager with plenty of pieces in the jigsaw but no clue as to where to fit them. There's some good players at Spurs and still plenty to be optimistic about but comtinual mismanagement from Levy has cost them top four time and time again and now with Chelsea and Arsenal (the two most vulnerable out of the top 4) strengthening there doesn't look to be anyway back in.

Teams that create more will win more matches. Liverpool and Arsenal ALWAYS create clear chances in matches even when playing poorly, that's something Spurs will have to do in order to get top 4 but they're already behind the Manchester clubs and Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal who've already gelled and are now just adding bits and pieces to the squad as opposed to bringing in a whole new spine.

Creating from open play seems to be problem many clubs in this league are having. Hull, Sunderland, Spurs, Fulham, WBA and Newcastle just to name a few.

Van Persie left Arsenal to win the league so if you think Bale leaving is fair enough then so is Van Persie. Pretty simple really and I don't blame either of them for leaving.

That's true but Wenger never once attacked any of the players that left or questioned their commitment to Arsenal.

Levy had to be like this as he had already stated that Bale wouldn't be sold for any money. Unfortunately when a player is deperate to go it's hard to keep them. Levy did the right thing and rinsed RM for as much cash as possible.
