Just read about this, horrible news. Sounds like an accident and nothing to do with his depression problems which are in the past I think. Really hope he pulls through.
Sad news indeed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ex-footballer Clarke Carlisle 'fighting for his life' after being hit by lorry on dual carriageway Former Premier League footballer Clarke Carlisle is fighting for his life after being hit by a lorry, according to reports. The ex-QPR, Watford and Burnley defender is thought to have been air-lifted to hospital after the incident on the busy A64 road in North Yorkshire on Monday morning. The A64 was closed in both directions after the incident near Bishopthorpe at around 7.30am, the Mail reported. The cause of the collision remains unclear at this stage. Carlisle, 35, went on to become chairman of the Professional Footballers Association after a 16-year club career as a centre back. A notoriously intelligent player, he achieved 10 A grades at GCSE before going on to play for a host of clubs. He appeared on Countdown in 2010, and in 2002 was named as "Britain's brainiest footballer" on an ITV show. Carlisle has been a pundit on ITV since retiring, and appeared regularly during the network's coverage of the World Cup in Brazil this year. He is married with three children and also acts as one of the leading ambassadors of the Kick It Out anti-racism campaign. The Mail reported that on Monday night police would only confirm that a 35-year-old man was stuck by a lorry south of York on the A64. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/worl...it-by-lorry-on-dual--carriageway-9941324.html
Always comes across as a decent man, hope he pulls through for himself and his famile who have already been through so much.
''He was apparently walking along a duel-carriageway at 7:30 in the morning.'' That's what makes this story particularly worrying.
J never met him as several of yu had but I do remember him as a player and I hope he pulls through this as well. a terrible thing to have happen
