The atmosphere was great and I don't have a problem with some supporters being star struck. It's normal to be star struck when you have the worlds best players in front of you fr a change.

To pack out a bigger stadium we need plastics and some star gazers. It is normal.

Cardiff fans applauded Aaron Ramsey after he's scored a goal against them - ultimate respect for what a player has become or poodleism?

But what is Steven Gerrard to Hull City?

    This isn't ENGLAND playing.

He means nothing to us. Sure I think he's a cracking player but during the match and before the final whistle I want him kept out of trouble by whatever means necessary. I don't care if he gets it rough, I want him to know he's been in a fight..

    A fight he lost..

I've got to say I don't get it.

The first corner he came to take in the South East corner he was getting booed.

He then let out a wry smile which appeared to win over some of the fans who started to clap him.

Including the woman sat next to me.

    I'm not for it.

    Where will it end?

Stanley Matthews got clapped up and down the country when he was playing. If he played against City your Grandad would have too.

Agree with this, some people are intolerant but it takes all sorts to make up a support. Nobody is arguing for clapping the away teams players they are just stating why that happens.

First half Gerrard goes to take a corner in the SE, he gets booed as a joke. Gerrard laughs it off, fans applaud.

I don't see the problem, it was quite amusing. He also took the time to head over and congratulate all our players at the end in front of our fans when half the Liverpool squad were in a hurry to leave the pitch as soon as the whistle went.

Nothing wrong with a bit of respect that goes both ways.

Yes, welcome to the 2010's. If you don't like, don't let the door smack you on the arse on the way out.

Well said. Banter doesn't have to be all vileness.

Actually I think it's just a symptom of this board, when you actually talk to proper fans in real life there's none if the gayness that's perpetuated on here

i think it would end with the lass selling her story to the papers and claiming that Arr Stevie G doesnt have the midfield thrust , that he possesses on the pitch
accompanied with a photo of said lass laid provocatively across the away chaning room benches , while slurping warm scouse pie.

I must say the phrase' slurping warm scouse pie' disgusts me and intrigues me in equal measure.

Is it even possible or have the Liverpool ladies entered the changing rooms and offered this mystical pie?

Where does the pie come from Whittling old boy?

    Where?

When was the last time Gerrard put in a decent performance for England? Captain or not, he's the epitome of what's wrong with the national side.

Having said that, I didn't notice anyone clapping him.

Over the years Billy Bremner and Emlyn Hughes both got plenty of stick from supporters of all divisions, then they both played for Hull City so what do you do about clapping then? On the one hand whilst at Leeds and Liverpool they are not to be applauded then in black & amber they are, odd. Not that he ever will but goodness knows what would happen should Gerrard play out his days at the KC. There is nothing wrong with being respectful to opposing players or their fans, banter sacasm, wit, was all part of the game at one point but maybe that is too mundane these days and outright bile, as shown on some boards, is the order of the day.
