I'd rather it was just a knockout competition like it used to be - a proper cup competition. Get a few more upsets that way too. But it's a money-making exercise first and foremost.
Pot 1: Chelsea, Villarreal, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Lille, Sporting Lisbon. Pot 2: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, PSG, Liverpool, Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund. Pot 3: Porto, Ajax, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Zenit St Petersburg, Benfica plus Shakhtar Donetsk or Monaco, RB Salzburg or Brondby, Besiktas or Dinamo Kiev. Pot 4: Club Brugge, Young Boys, AC Milan, Malmo, Wolfsburg, plus Dinamo Zagreb or Sheriff Tiraspol, Shakhtar Donetsk or Monaco, RB Salzburg or Brondby, Besiktas or Dinamo Kiev. There is not much difference in big name teams between Pot 1 and Pot 2
Pot 2 is mainly the classic European giants. Pot 1 is more of the flavour of the week, currently in-form sides. Hard to tell which pot is more dangerous. Probably about equal.
I'm assuming same-country protection still applies, so can't get City or Chelsea. So Bayern is the one to avoid.
Am surprised that PSG haven’t negotiated a pot for themselves. Lille aren’t good enough for pot 2, let alone pot 1 and the Europa league is a second strong competition that is relatively easy to win…..unless you are ole
Our potential group of death... A.Madrid, Atlanta & Milan Easiest option... Sporting, Brondby & Malmo
I’ll complete this for you ,the latter being City’s group, I suppose? All while they play lower league teams in the cup while the rest of us have PL opponents. There, it’s already sounding more realistic
Eventually it will all come out and people will go to jail. Statistically the run city have had is impossible
Pot 1 Bayern Munich Atletico Madrid Villarreal Inter Milan Sporting CP Lille Pot 3 Porto Ajax RB Leipzig Benfica Atalanta Zenit St Petersburg Shakhtar Donetsk Salzburg Pot 4 Club Brugge Young Boys AC Milan Malmo Wolfsburg Besiktas Dynamo Kiev Sheriff Tiraspol Final pots. Pot 3 is actually better than usual too theres a middling chance someone big is playing europa this year given that pot. It's going to be a big big draw this year. Thankfully now that psg run uefa man city cant bribe their way to an easy draw any more
English teams playing Champions League on Wednesday we no longer be involved in early kick off on Saturday, i. e games kicking off 12:30. Victory for Jurgen Klopp. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo.../premier-league-ruke-klopp-liverpool-21399419
Generally agree although I'd rather we travel than have to endure two borefest games against A.Madrid!
quietly without admitting they were absolutely stupid. Typical premier league. If they were sensible they would ensure no team in european action had to play before 4pm. the 5:30pm and later times would be fra more sensible to allow teams consistently prepare for the glory of the prem in europe. Even at this however now a club can go tuesday at 7:45 and be told to report for 12nnon kick of on saturday and then trun back round and play 7:45pm the next midweek. thats still ****e.
Pot 3 is hard to call for us. I think we'd tear up atlanta in our current form. same for leipzig. I do not think they have recovered form losses at all. Ajax, porto, benfica all tougher games imo. Salzburg are the weakest team. but travelling to russia (want that game away as early as possible in group) or ukraine (war zone) are not what we want. for usre. Pot 4 really the bag of ****e like Besiktas, Dynamo Kiev, Sheriff Tiraspol is also to be avoided as well. The nightmare group of altlanta and AC milan cannot happen as they can't be in the same group. Same for this sherrif ****e and zenit. for the travelling fans (will there be any??) a trip to france, Portugal and italy might be nice. (lille, porto, ac milan)
Is there some political thing with Moldova and Russia? Think they stopped ukraine and Russian didn’t they but not sure about any others.
