I think the bidding war with transfer fee would be over quickly due to the realease clause, i think the father wants a bidding war in contract situations for his son.

rumour has it Man City have made enquiries over Javier Pastoré (Palermo) for those of you with a low degree of Argentinian attacking midfielders that play in Italy after seemingly not looking to win the race for Alexis Sanchez, Man City are also linked with Cissokho who we have been briefly linked with before. If the players realise that even if there on a high wage, they may not get first team football and of they wished to return in I.e Carlos Tevez's situation due to home sickness, no one will take them because they are on astronomical figures.

I thought it was more along the lines of they're consider the 'offers' as opposed to bidding. From which I take it that it's just like any other agent/club relationship. The player has received offers/interest from other clubs and together with his agent they will review them and decide where to go from there. I don't think either the player or the agent has any say in the transfer fee.

If Valencia are looking for 20-25m, and we meet that and they accept our offered fee, then City can't come in with 30m and automatically 'win' the player. Them having 'agreed' a fee with us, the player should be allowed to speak to both clubs. The final decision is the player's. And it might even be that he wants to stay.

Perhaps the 'problem' lies more with the translation of his father's comments along with some 'liberal' journalism
