Looks like I wasn't the only one to forecast a 2-1 win,but wasn't ready to cheer as I didn't want the cup run adding extra games to our depleted ranks.Be honest guys we don't have the fire power to win it when we could barely manage the odd goal (Fulham excluded) prior to Long and Jela signings.

Power just came back on here (9pm Monday evening) after being off for two days due to huge snowstorm. So missed my first game (on TV/computer) this season. Anyhow so chuffed to read we won...well done lads. Looking forward to two more wins over Newcastle who seem to be fading fast, and Slumberland for the third time this season.

So then its Shef U or Charlton in the SF, and off to Wembley to take care of Arsenal or Man City. Champions League next season??? Well I can dream can't I. :emoticon-0100-smile

Considering he never touched the ball and the freekick was a shot, no.

He had a significant effect on the movements of defender and keeper, I'd say. But I guess the laws as they currently are don't really cover that.

Of course it will have a significant effect on the defenders' movements.

    Look at it this way.

Would he think the same if Brighton scored it, perfectly identical? Of course not, he'd think it was fine.

It should have been offside in today's rule to be fair, but we got away with it. Guess the officials never saw the slight deflection.

Match played with a pre-season feel to it. Total domination of the game until Ulloa scored. Then it became more of a cup game. But we were never really in any danger of not winning.

Job done and now we take on the Mackem boys in the qtrs.

That could actually slow us down. I thought there was more fight, speed and even the passing was better than the game at Brighton.

I posted this last night but did no-one else see Macca walking about last night? On ? severed ankle ligaments? I was very surprised that he was weightbearing with no crutches. Injury was 2 weeks ago plus he's already had one exploratory op. Maybe he just is super Mac and hard as rock.

City passed the ball about well last night, particularly in the first half.

2nd half, Brighton got more into it, but we still made a decent account of ourselves.

It's the same old story though, the final ball was poor. Also when we had time and space to shoot, we were stuck in two minds & delayed it too long.

    Best team went through.
