Very strange (almost spookey) that our under 21's are playing Burnley tomorrow night at the same time we're playing them in the Carabao Cup.

Does that mean we'll be starting a lot of senior players up there rather than youngsters, or will Pursey have a to make do with the under 18 squad?

Credit to the accademy coaches.
It must be rewarding to see the fruits of their labour in the 1st team, but it must be frustrating to keep having the heart ripped out of their teams.<doh>
Recent results suggest there is a conveyor of players coming in behind.
I know they recruited for the accademy in the summer, and you can see why they needed to.

4-0 win for the 21s against Millwall.
Perret, George and Barton showing up well.
Jake Davis moved up front and showing plenty of gas.
16 year old Tankiewicz off the bench. Playing 5 years up and has already trained with the 1st team.
Can imagine Barton going out on loan soon. Another who has trained with the 1st team.

Its taken a while, but the sausage machine is in full flow now.

2 games in a few days for the 21s. Hard on the legs.
A young team, but a win in difficult conditions against the Wurzels.
No highlights yet, but an interesting interview with Purse and footage of the goals.
He, along with the rest of the accademy staff, must be delighted to see so many of their products in and around the 1st team. Makes winning games more difficult for them though.

I've looked through the list of players in the 18s and 21s a few times. It looks as if 25-30% of the players were recruited in the summer.
As said before, hardly surprising given the number of youngsters with the 1st team and a couple on loan.
A few useful looking players amongst the young recruits.
