Finished 2-1 for City but we were worth more than that. One thing I will say for Reindorf, the bloke may lack that little bit of finesse, but he never gives up. He puts pressure on opposition defenders that puts Meite and Kanga to shame. He came off after about 75 minutes and I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't thrown in at the deep end against the Blades on Saturday - the other options up top aren't exactly pulling up trees.
Just got round to seeing the highlights Excellent run & shot by Ashford but as said above Reindorf lacked sharpness in front of goal on several occasions. Irrespective of that though it’s a far cry from the first team type of football with so many chances being created.
If we were establishing a footballing ethos for the club, top to bottom, it would be better to align the first team with the academy than the other way round.
Just watched the QPR highlights. Some nice football on show. Reindorf's finishing wasn't clinical by any stretch, but he had quite a few efforts on goal and gets into some good positions. A decent outing by all on show. Kpakio continues to impress, especially as he's only 17. Giles is neat and tidy and Jeffries shows a bit of flair. I'm not sure how, but the club needs to keep nurturing these players and create a pathway to the first team. With the correct handling, a few of these players could make the grade. To be fair, if only 2-3 a year made it as squad players for the 1st team, it would be of great benefit.
Just seen the highlights of both age groups each beating Watford. Some super football and quality finishing from Mannie Barton who played in both games. You know the saying ‘if you’re good enough then you’re old enough.’ Just stating what may be the obvious.
This is the U23 team currently playing at Ipswich. Looking at it seems to suggest that the regulars from the side will be in the first team squad on Thursday.
City with all those youngsters are being swamped - with half an hour left I reckon Ipswich will score another couple. At the moment, Ipswich 17 shots with 12 on target - City 1 shot with 1 on target.
